I think the filter is kind of funny. People don't know it is there, or they forget about it in the heat of the moment and get kicked.

It is slightly more funny than saying "press f10" when somebody asks how to show FPS in CS. :-)

What? I don't think so. Our server allows curses, but is kicking for racial slurs.

Yea, thats what my clan does, unless one of our younger members are on or someone we know is young, then we warn you. But even then, I don't ever remember having to kick someone because of that.

I don't see what the problem is when you just can't curse. Lack of profanity can't hinder intelligent communication. Infact, most of the time that's all profanity does.

But when you get kicked for saying cockpit, that's when I think its time to rethink filters.

absolutely.. our server kicks based on full words rather than partial to avoid this issue. even if a few words get thru, the real admins are there to keep people in check.

I'm stumped. But yes, the filter should be smarter. Unfortunately, they get over zealous because everybody tries to be c.l.e.v.e.r about defeating them, because some people just can't communicate without a dozen or so essential words...
