That's a fact!!!!! But how about Savage's engine??? Or... UT2004 Engine... there's a great new book for the Unreal Engine out... Level Design for the Unreal Engine if I'm not mistaken.

What if there was no sword fighting, just bows/spears/crossbows/slingshots... etc etc.. ? would this be possible?

hmm I thought you meant cave-men ancient

I think it would be fun, Pterodactyl air units, war mammoths, Stegosaurus tanks with mounted catapults, Velociraptor fast runners.. classes could be stuff like Warriors (use spear, battleaxe and a knife, leather armour), shamans (has a ceremonial spear and a knife, can heal, no armour), Animal handlers (spear, knife, can heal Animals) and so on

Now that sounds like an awesome mod to me you could throw vikings into the mix as mercenarys (both sides get them) and the idea of a sheild isnt bad the shield could have be automated to deffend certain areas of the body. But it can only take so many wacks then the sheild breaks lol you could also have the support class still in the game but handing out fresh sheilds. And the hole arhers and crossbow men would proberly be the easiest thing you just change the animation and increase the projectile drop. You could also throw greek fire into the mix and have seige towers as tanks but have multiple troops in them i.e. aload of warriors and archers. lol and for the sf class they could be running around with tubs of gunpowder trying to blow stuff up but have it on a fuse and give them an ubar sword but no sheilds. It would deffinatly make a super mod there so many possabilites and so many differnt types of units depending on the exact era in time you use lol if you wanted you could have hannible in there aswell and have elephants as tanks.

Chage the spec opp to have sum type of gun powder packed into a pocket or something, put it on a catapult, light it, catapult goe sup in flames. (Catapults can be the equiv of a tank)
