I feel EA have made a huge mistake by lowering the points required for most ranks, badges and riboons, it just means after a couple of weeks EVERYONE is going to be a really high rank and have every award. To me it was better when not everyone could be an extert in every aspect of the game! It's totally underminded the ranks and awards I worked hard to achive before the update, now there are clowns on our server who have the same rank and awards as the good players yet aren't half the player they are. I think EA have just given in to the 13 year old kids who want to be uber leet in their first week of playing and that sux the big one.
EA have spoilt ranks etc :(

Re: EA have spoilt ranks etc
Dude, you need to totally get over it. Rankings and unlocks under the old system were beneficial only for either cheaters or people with too much free time on their hands. Ive had this game over 2 months, play it as much as my wife allows me to (about 10hrs a week), rank pretty highly points wise in every round I play, and have just under 5000 points. Under the old system my next unlock would have been attainable by christmas, and I would have been unlikely to acheive all unlocks before 2007, maybe later. By that time my appreciation of BF2 would have diminished to the occasional game once a month.
Now I have 3 unlocks and care less about points and more about squadplay and winning maps, and have noticed a huge improvement on gameplay on all the ranked servers I play on. I look at the guys ranked up the top with nearly 100 000 points, and compared to me they dont score much more per hour, have less accuracy, and about the same kills to death ratio. All 100 000 points says to me is "I have no life and waste every free moment on this game", and nothing about skill. -
Re: EA have spoilt ranks etc
Agreed. Its possibly a little too easy now, but then again this game has to cater for the more casual players and not just the guys with pale skin who play up to 10 hours each and every day. I think the real issue behind the change was more due to players concentration on getting points rather than squadplay. Now there's little reason to stat-pad and everyone gets a chance at unlocks.Comment

Re: EA have spoilt ranks etc
None of the unlocks give a huge advantage. Some are nice, such as the DAO being more useful for close range combat. The medic unlock gives some nice accuracy with moderate power should you find yourself being an MEC medic. And ribbons and points? Who cares, I play the game for fun. I have three unlocks, and those were the only three I wanted.Comment

Re: EA have spoilt ranks etc
Thats the other point actually. None of the unlocks are uber-killing machines. Some are slightly better but all are balanced more or less against the standard weapons (re-load on M95/DAO/Jackhammer, no laser dot on G36, no grenade launcher on G3). Before unlocks were about wanck-factor to see who can waste the most amount of time on the game, now their useable by all and can be used depending on environment.Originally posted by CytrodeNone of the unlocks give a huge advantage. Re: EA have spoilt ranks etc
I like the rank adjustment for most of the reasons stated above. My gaming time is also limited and it would have taken me a long time to get the next unlock.
I hope that the easier ranking will turn interests over to squad gameplay and increase general fun in this game.Comment

Re: EA have spoilt ranks etc
My Ten Cents.
I have no problem at all with everyone having the unlocks as i feel all the weapons are down to personal taste and the situation at hand.
What is slightly annoying is the amount of sergeants. Surely there could have been other ranks slotted in to make it slightly easier to identify experience/skill levels. There are stripes all over the place.
I don't mind who joins my squad/team but i do like to have some idea of there skill/playing level.
As commander you can leave the experienced dudes to it and concentrate on resupplying and UAV the lesser experienced guys.
Same in a squad, i like to know what job/class/mission to allocate peeps and the ranking system helped identify those capable of acheiving said goals.
Odviously i have to take into account the stat whores and those that got there points in the air and are incapable of street fighting but it has helped me in the past quite a lot.
Also to those peeps who say those that have loads of points and ranks are sad etc and spend all there time on Batt2. So what if it makes them happy.
Surely if they use there love for the game to learn improve and pass on tips to all it must improve gameplay for all.
I myself have played nothing else apart from my race sim since the demo. No other game has taken me like Batt2. The variety keeps my interest where as other titles i have had i've always had 1-2 other games running on alongside.
All my points medals/ribbons/awards have been won on foot (cept Gunner of course) and i am chuffed to bits with them all. For me its recognition for the time i have put in to the game/hobby i love.
If that makes me sad then so be it but contact concise for me and get them to change the definition of Sad to Happy as a Pig in ****.
This is not a whinge but my thoughts on the game. As far as i am concerned EA gave me Batt2 and i am confident they are striving to improve it all the time. Since the demo i have loved it.
They have my support and my Thanks.Comment
But at least i have 4 unlocks waiting for me when i get back on.... not sure when that will be.. Next friday again i think! DAMN a full week to wait for my DAO-12.
