Re: dont want me to swear in your server? fine.

I understand what has been said about us already playing a violent game, so what is cussing really adding? However, if you think about it, VERBALLY blurting out a cuss word is a little more instantaneous then say typing it. There is definitely a premeditated thought process that one goes through in order to transfer the instantaneous outburst into written text.

I have never understood what text written cussing as a reflex to a griefer accomplishes. But then again, I have never really "instantaneously" typed a cuss word either. I just wish people would use thesauruses more often.

Most people are against swearing because they often hear people who have no clue how to swear properly, and thus can't appreciate what someone who is talented in this sort of area can do.

Off the top of my head, lewis black is a name that comes to mind.

if its been requested you use moderate language i think you should do your best to uphold this request. After all its THEIR server, you should play by THEIR rules - if you dont like it buy your own server.

You are comparing verbal speech, with written text. I am sure Lewis Black, when writing his jokes, doesn't physically write the cuss word. It just comes out when he's verbally conveying the punchline.

There is a HUGE difference between the two.

I agree. This however, brings me to my question - if I got kicked, why didn't the tker?

And this brings me to the total level of hypocrisy involved in having a no swearing server..

You have to think that there are also kids playing this game and even though it is a game bout shooting other ppl, you don't have to make it worse by swearing. I know, when you've been tk'ed for a plan it's f***ing anoying, and I also sweared to those players but there are often ppl who constantly swear in our server, and those get banned right away. Ur rules: don't swear in the server! There is no warning coz they won't listen. Ban is the most effective thing against those who never stop swearing!

                    I know that.

But while you're ranting on THEIR server and THEIR rules, I have MY right to complain and whine and kick and scream if I don't like THEIR rules.

No you dont, if you dont like it you have the right not to choose to play, upon entering their server you are agreeing to play by their rules and therfore agreeing to accept the concequinces of breaking them. End of story.

Like what Boxman was saying, there is no hypocracy if they are making the rules for their server. If they feel that openly cussing is more offensive then TKing, then that is THEIR policy and you don't have to abide by it. Move to a different server that has the same offensiveness hiarchy as yours. You'll be happier.

Triple, you always have to keep in mind that some pay bout 130$ per month for a server, and that's why they are making their own rules. If you don't like it, press ESC and leave, if you stay and brake the rules, don't wonder when you're kicked

                              And yet, people tk..

I don't think you or anyone else for that matter realizes this isnt about swearing alone. There is untold idiocy in policing a stupid thing like language, when you have all the more serious gameplay issues taking place by the second.

But hey, its their right to have a crappy server. And its my right to complain as long as totalbf2 admins will let me!

your right, dice should have made it so we can intercept the text before it goes to the screen and either censor it or block it altogether.. unfortunately, dice may be great at the big things but they seem to be terrible at looking ahead and adding obvious things such as this... as it goes, a python programmer only has the ability to read what was typed and cannot block it from going to the screen. so the only thing they can do is make kick/ban scripts to stop it.
