Joystick really helps for jets. If you were good with a mouse you will be a lot better with the joystick. It takes time to get used to though. It's very sensitive and stuff. But once you got the hang of it you'll do fine and it's way fun.

I don't like using it with the chopper though. I do better with my mouse.

Yes man of coasre youll own when you get use to it. But if you dont ill hunt you down and beat you with my unbreakable Bf2 coffee mug!

In all cases yes if you are interested in flying jets (it is fun).

Yes and no with the heli. Im a self proclaimed chopper expert and I fly without my joystick. The biggest problem without the joystick in the heli is that you can not loop and chopper dog fights become a little harder as handling decreases.

yup its pretty near imposible to fly a plain with mouse+keyboard

The Cyborg Evo is a great joystick.

Normally it is 40 bucks, but you can order one from the official saitek website reconditioned for half of that.

I have the logitech extreme 3d pro, $40 at Circuit City. I think it's great. Saitek and Logitech are your only options.

My brother is the same way, and I think he's a damn good pilot, although don't let me dissuade you from buying a joystick. It'll probably be a good investment.

You can get a Saitek ST90 for 15 bucks and it folds up to save space. More than enough to get you started. Probably smarter getting something cheap and decent quality than something fancy and find out you won't use it that much.
