Plenty of good ways to take down planes as the other posters state.
Heres some of my tips.
Shoot them down with other aircraft!! The guns work well when you suss the lead time and you can shoot them from bomb view so no warning bells on your opponent.
Use the missiles. Be in bomb view, until your in a nice path behind the opponent, flick to missile view, then if he doesnt drop flares or evasive manouvres, shoot 2 missiles at him, or if he
shoots flares, flick to bombs, then back to missiles, and reaquire the target and shoot him down
performs evasive manouvers, flick to bomb view and either try to gun him down, or stay in his path for another missile run.
The GLA is also good for taking down aircraft with the tips above. But you will then get a good pilots attention. A good pilot will know where you are and come in a n gun you. But for the peeps needing the targeting reticule, if you see an aircraft coming on for a bombing run, or trying to let his copilot get a missile on you, exit the AA = no more target box.
