You can not play this game as infantry and achieve anything

1. The maps are horrible. There is literally no room to hide from tanks, apcs, aircraft, etc.

2. AOE damage of most vehilces regular shots kills insanely fast. A BH or APC just has to "get close" and it gets a kill. So any ledge or corner you can hide behind just gets you killed.

3. It takes 2 c4 to do in a tank... but an AT rocket (designed to KILL TANKS) takes 4-5 from the front of the tank 3-4 from the rear... and some magic 2 shot kills in the treads.

4. Sniper rifles blow. M-95... shot to the chest or head = dead. Try to remain a little on the sensible side here. The new FOTM weapon, the G36c, is more accurate than a sniper rifle at long range. We can't see far enough in this game to even remotely believe there should be bullet drop off. I can't tell you how many times I've hit someone with the M-95 at a good distance and have them turn around and shoot me with 2-3 shots from an AK G36C or etc pop cap gun.

5. Vehicles get the same points an infantry does... but its a hell of a lot easier for a tank to kill a solo infantry. Reduce vehicle kill points to 1 vs infantry. 0 if its within 3 seconds of spawn.

Its easy to hide from tank/BH. Easy to kill tank/BH. Sniping shouldnt be powerful because then noobs everywhere.

Maybe you just suck. Or maybe you want an all infantry game for which I'd suggest you go play DoD: Source or Counter Strike: Source. Or hell wait on CoD 2 to come out and go play that. You and others like you need to stop the ****in incessant whining though, it's getting old.

I don't race people to vehicles, and I'll even give up a vehicle for a nearby friendly (Of course, I will always get in them to stop the enemy getting hold of them!).

Why? I can't stop playing Anti-Tank - the challenge is fantastic.

Yes, it's lame how a humvee will take a AT rocket to the windshield and not kill instantly, how it takes so many hits to destroy armour (just to have them bail anyway), how the rockets go straight through things, and how people will steal your helicoper kills with their pistol.

When someone drives a tank up for some spawn camping, bails from the burning wreck and gets my DAO to their head.... ahhhhhhh, it feels so good!

Slogan should be:
Anti-Tank - it makes you feel slightly less useless!

You are running around solo?

Get in a squad, work as a team. I see your point as a motivational thing for the players to work together. There aren't even enough tanks or APCs on a map to prevent a good squad from achieving their goal.

Hot diggity. I rack up kills as infantry like a som'biatch once I run into their moderately active base and hook 'em up wit ma 1337 C4 yo. Since I am only playing Gulf of Oman, I know all da tight squeezes where C4 can protect you from any threat.

Example, north-mid MEC flag, you get into that orange container who's opening is in front of the opening in the fence and stick some C4 at the entrance far enough that it won't hurt you. You may think peeps will throw grenades in dere but dey don't. Once, they actually did, but they sucked at it, they didn't know about setting the throw distance of the grenade, if they throw it straight atcha, you just high-tail it out, run it back in.

South-east American flag, you get inside the tower, bottom floor, stick some C4 on the line between the room of the tower and the outside where Americans will spawn and do not crouch or prone. If you have friendly fire on, stick C4 on the sand-bag wall in front of the entrance to the tower.

I agree (on most points) with the thread starter, (OMG!) but of course vehicles are far better than infantry and it should be like that. Vehicles have armor and and more powerful weapons. Who would take a tank if it blows up from the first AT rocket?
Infantry's only chance against vehicles is not to be seen.

maybe you should try supporting your own armour
a tank with a squad of infantry protecting its flanks and rear, repairing and resupplying it is a tough nut to crack

Spec Ops & Engineer can hold their own against a tank. Close-up infantry is faster moving than tanks, its easy to stick C4 or drop an AT mine & b00000m :) Yesterday I was lying in the grass, some guy tries running me over in a jeep, he passed straight over me & got a C4 stuck underneath HeHeHe, he didn't stand a chance. Tanks dont look around them enough, and the turret turns too slow, most often they dont have a turret gunner.

I have been playing this game for a while now and ill tell u ..u can defenitly hide
I usualy play as a spec-ops and one of his job's is staying undetected as he try's to sneak in to an enemys camp and blows up the radar and arty
Infact most of my time in bf u wont see me..if u do i failed

Same go's for sniping ..there are some awesome sniper spots out there but the trick is to be patient..

sniping is like fishing.

Just keep on playing u whill get better at it , and if u dondt ..thats ok to
cause the only thing u need to "achieve" in this game is that u have fun.

I guarantee you I will see you moving anywhere on the map... if not a good commander points you out.

If there is so many good sniping spots explain to me why the majority of snipers get 1) knifed (their own stupidity for not paying attention or settting good defense) 2) shot at long range by a non-sniper weapon (L85 and G36C prime culprits)?

I play because there is potential... when I am not spawn camped in by vehicles and I get into some GOOD infantry scrims I see the potential.

You talk about "infantry following a tank". ROFL... that is an invite to a grenade. The real deal is engineers, support, and medics loaded into APCs following tanks. Nice little self sufficient group of ownage. Once they roll up on a flag no amount of infantry will beat them aside from C4ing the flag... which on most servers gets you banned.

AT mines are a joke now. SO easily visible that tanks and so forth just shoot them. They need to sink farther into the ground and leave a less OBVIOUS display.

Sure you can hide if you get a head start on an incoming vehicle, but once they see you you are done. If you live its most likely because they are a bad shot or are occupied elsewhere.

There is potential for great BALANCE between infantry and vehicles. Right now there is nothing of the sort. Vehicles can cap flags, get equal points for kills, and get the hell out of town when it turns messy.

Add in the fact most, if not all, vehicle weapons do damage through most walls... it gets even worse.

Bad maps, poor balance, and other things make people quit BF2. The people left sticking probably stick to SaK and vehicle rushing.

Ueber snipers and nerfed armored vehicles?

i mostly agree with the thread starter infantry sucks if you ever try playing any other fps you will see. there needs to be blood definitely so we actually know if we hit. all the guns need to be ****ed about with. and sniping needs to be a hell of a lot more accurate.
