I cannot stress enough how much more RAM improves this game. I started out with 1gb PC3200....bumped it up to 1.5gb and the improvement was amazing. Maps loaded in half the time and the "spawn stutter" was gone. Now I'm up to 2gb and it's as smooth as butter......about 30 seconds from "join server" to spawn.....no hitches, no stutters. Smoooooooth!

Put off the video card upgrade, put off the CPU upgrade. Get more RAM now! You will be glad you did

Yeah I just went from 1 gig to 1.5 and now kinda wish I went for 2 instead. Too bad I'm out of slots now.

I went from 1GB to 2GB, and it was like night and day, When i first start the game and join a server for the first time, it loads then gets to verfiy client data for about 5sec and then i can join. But after the first game i join, when i join another game, it loads to about 25%, then jumps to loading client data for like 3sec and them im in the game.

I have 1Gb of memory on right now and i think it performs pretty decent. I would add more RAM, but I don't have any more slots!

I was out of slots too. I had to sacrifice a 512mb stick, then another, but I sold them on e-bay pretty quickly.

I only have 2 slots and I had 2x512mb. I bought a 1gb stick and sold a 512mb (now up to 1.5gb)....then I bought another 1gb stick and sold the remaining 512mb stick (now 2gb).

Took a while and some saving, but it was definately worth it.

i upgraded from a 512mb to a 1.5 gig and WOW game performance is extremely well. I am able to play with special effects/geometry/terrain/textures all on high. with no choppiness what so ever

any1 else get lagg in game where it like flips u around and ioften fatal when in a helo or plane?

it usually says "problem with connection" or just stutters and i end up upside down and crash-its so frustrating that i havnt been playing lately at all

and the graphical settings dont matter it still happens plus i have 1.5 RAM so i dont get wts wrong

any1 else have this?

In my case, I think a video card is more important (I'm using an ATI 9200 for chrissakes), but after I get a new mobo/processor/video card/SLI video card then I'll go for two gigs of ram.

I only have 512MB
Works fine in-game, but loading, and spawning for the first time after loading is very slow.

bf2 IS a system hog.requires 2 much Ram.i've just upgrade my ram to 1G.the improvement was huge.takes no time go back to desktop when alt+tab.but the loading's still killing me.

I think this should be moved to Hardware... and if you want lag free play, you need 2Gig of RAM... :)

sure wish I could upgrade though at the moment of all things, money isn't what's keeping me from going from 1 to 2gigs. Moving to 2gigs would mean I have to abandon my XL sticks with super tight timings. If only corsair would pull an amazing 1gig module out of their sleeves that's capable of 2225 timings.
