You'll never be able to run even mid settings with that PC. Celeron is about the worst processor you could choose. But, if I were you, I'd upgrade your vid card to a 6600GT, that MIGHT allow you to turn some settings up to mid. It costs around $140 for one of those right now I think. But the rest of your system is very mediocre, so I wouldn't invest TOO much in upgrades. For example, it would be pointless for you to get, say, a 7800GT video card.
And don't listen to the guy above me, don't get more RAM because you'll still be bottlenecked by the junky processor. And if you do, get 1GB so you can run it in dual channel mode. Getting only an extra 512 is almost pointless.

It's really the gfx card that's holding you up. The lowest on the BF2 readme.txt is the NVidia GeForce FX 5700 and while the 5500 works fine, you won't be able to play on medium.

The Celeron is a pretty slow processor, I would put my money there...
But if you have the guts, you can always try to overclock it. (Be sure to have good cooling if you do)
Your motherboard is fine. It can support the Pentium 4 chip. Just quote the code "LGA775" if ever you want to upgrade the processor but want to keep the motherboard. LGA775 is the format of the processor.

well theyll say "ive got all settings maxed with only aaset to 4x and lighting at medium" or all settings are high with (blank) and (blank) on medium.... thats not running on high, If u say that then u DONT HAVE ALL SETTINGS ON HIGH! .

Yep, I think this is correct. I do run everything at high, AA and AF on 8x - and BF2 normally uses 900-1100MB of RAM. Add in the 2-300 MB Windows users, and you'll see that it DOES make use of that extra RAM.
PS: I've got 2GB of total RAM, but never seen the total RAM usage go over 70-80%.
I second that. Been running the game with 1GB RAM: playable but jerky when a round starts. I have now 2GB and it's smooth as silk (3200+, 6600GT, 1280x1024, 2xAA, everything on high except textures and dyn. lights (both med.)).
