So 1000 players have the requirments, who gets the rank? The one with no life playing the game 16 hours a day, or the one who just got the requirments 2 seconds ago and lucked out and got it?
If you're going to have ranks, let everyone have the chance to get it.

I think it's quite a cool idea. It gives those who are jostling at the top an extra incentive (which may help with the loss of their lives :P). Rather than just being #1 on the list, you could be the only player with a certain rank. No doubt it'll have enormous requirements, to stop 1,000 people having them.

Nope, I used to play MMOs (AO, SWG, and WoW) and I quit altogether because I was so frustrated with it, I could spend days, weeks, months trying to get junk for my characters but some other guy would always get them before me. So I'm not bothered anymore by it, I stopped caring in a way :laugh: but I still like to collect badges and medals, it's fun IMO. Don't let it bother you, it's not that big a deal :)
I doubt I'll ever get to that rank. The way EA/DICE are handling BF2, I'm playing Guildwars waiting for Ghost Recon:AW to come out.
As far as I think, EA/DICE took a good game and butchered it in front of our eyes. Once GR:AW comes out I'm getting rid of my BF2.
Mind you I did play all of 5 minutes last night, went up 3 ranks while I was just sitting on a roof sniping at people.

You are wrong. In each branch of service there is one position for the most senior enlisted person. For the marine corps this person would be the Sergeant Major of the Corps. There is only 1 person with this rank at any given time.
wouldn't it be like being a general? There are more than 1 general in the army.
To have 1 guy in the world with that rank doesn't make much sence.

The Sergeant Major of the Corps serves as the most senior enlisted man and advises the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps in all things pertaining to the enlisted man. He is essentially a spokesperson for the enlisted personel. Currently John L. Estrada is the man assigned to this position at this time. There have been 15 Sergeant Majors of the Marine Corps since 1957.
Just like there is only 1 Secretary of Defense, one Commandant of the United States Marine Corpse, there is only 1 person who holds the rank of Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps at any given time.
Why shpuld more people have this rank? As they have said it's given to the best performing player each month, so you are only going to be it for a month at a time as others around the same score will try and do better to get it.
