Would you go back to BF1942?

Please read the post before you vote. And please keep the "Then go play BF1942.." and " STFU" posts to yourself.

Let me start off by saying I love the BF series. Its one of the best series in computer gaming i've ever seen. But I am truly sick and tired of all this BF2 bs which has been happening lately.

These include:
- Choppiness if under 2GB ram if settings are high
- Need a high end system to get above 50fps consistently
- Rank system is easily manipulated (stat padding)
- Map load times are very long for most users
- All seeing eye and Xfire doesnt work properly
- Good jet pilots are almost impossible to kill
..and many many more.

So after playing 5 hours of BF2 last night I decided to try BF1942 again.
I chose wake island and played on the Tweedle server.
Man I must say I really love that game. Weapons were not so powerful and vehicles were fun to ride in again. No n00b canons or BH whores. Just fun.
Not to mention my "high end system" that barely squeeks over 60 fps in BF2 was getting 100fps all the time at 4aa8af.
I suggest more bf1942 servers reopen. BF1942 is great. Good pace and fun to play.

So you tell me, would you go back to 1942?

Seriously tho, no i wouldnt.

Playing BF1942 after playing and enjoying BF2 is like going back to the cheep recycled scratchy toilet paper when you were using the expensive uber soft kind.

BF1942 feels so horribly static and clunky.. and yeah, you need a "high end rig" to play bf2, what did you expect? its 2005.. dude, get with the times, as a pc gamer you need to upgrade a lot.

Its not like BF1942 didnt suffer from some sort of whoring, the planewhores are just as bad, constantly looping and bombing the **** out of everything, bunnyhopping medic tards.

Hmmm, some of us still like to play Pong and Frogger. Does that make us "cheep recycled scratchy toilet paper" users? Maybe if they really made a cool mod that was in the BF1942 mod era.. I would probably play that like crazy.

However, Its kinda fun to play old 1942. Makes you really appreciate the BF:2 graphics. Thats if you have a nice high end system. Like me :P

I just played BFV a few days ago...and OMG the earlier versions of BF are so easy now that I have been playing BF2... BF42 and BFV are both very different games then BF2...They are the same concept but that concept is played out completely different in each...

Personally I still like playing BFV...It's like playing a hollywood Vietnam movie... Nothin better then hopping in a Huey Gunship and cranking some tunes as you OWN THE BATTLEFIELD

Absolutely, I'll play all three. Just because a new game comes out doesn't mean the old ones aren't fun anymore. Hell, with the new BF2 rigs, 1942 and Vietnam will SCREAM!

I just played BFV a few days ago...and OMG the earlier versions of BF are so easy now that I have been playing BF2... BF42 and BFV are both very different games then BF2...They are the same concept but that concept is played out completely different in each...

Personally I still like playing BFV...It's like playing a hollywood Vietnam movie... Nothin better then hopping in a Huey Gunship and cranking some tunes as you OWN THE BATTLEFIELD

i only had dail up when i had 1942, so i didnt get much online play, only single play, so i can't really judge

well i still play BFP (thats pirates) with my clan, using the bf1942 engine untill we have the BFP2 version ready. I have not played vanilla bf1942 in years, i cant bring my self to do that especially after playing Forgotten Hope.

There's som much new funktions in BF2 that it would be stupid to go back to BF1924. It's like going back to windows 98 from XP just because you cant handle all the new functions.

I will keep playing BF2 but I'll also be checking out the new release of the BF1918 mod and the Joint Arsenal mod when it's released.

Lets pu it this way, id play a BF42 mod for BF2. that would be great, better graphics, lots of hidding spots(bushes, trees and rocks) and i wouldnt mind flying a ZERO again and a radio would be great i just miss flying in my huey transport fully loaded screaming NOWHERE TO RUN NOWHERE TO HIDE hmmm the good ol days
