I've bounced to numerous threads, on numerous forums, and there's always a couple who claim the ranks were lowered to much, and they didn't earn their three simultaneous promotions.
If you didn't earn the point then who did? People make it sound like they were handed the ranks. You EARNED the ranks when you reached the new set of standards months ago. True, you were upped 3 ranks after only 3 kills, but you had already earned the points. Stop complaining.
I agree I think they lowered them a bit to much, but they DID need to be lowered. I think only needing 800 points for corporal is low, same with sergeant. However it doesn't really matter. I will say the game is a helluva lot of fun now. Especially with the more teamwork you're seeing, and I'll admit, I'm working more as a team as well.
Before I only played as spec ops to get my 250 hours of playtime with the kit, to get my Vet. badge, and I know many others did as well (with different classes). Now that their lowered, I swtich classes more often to actually help the situation. If there's a bunch of tanks at a CP, instead of going SF to gain the time requirement and hoping to C4 them, I'll go Anti-Tank, as now the badges are more obtainable.
I personally like the new system in regards to the badges, medals, ribbons. The ranks were dropped a little TOO much, but hey, they still have ranks which are WAY up there for players to achieve.
Remember, this IS an FPS. EA/DICE did the right move in moving it away from an RPG.
Remember, you did in fact earn your rank. You got the points, and were awarded with the promotion. Think of it as your rank was a backordered product from newegg :p.
