i dont understand what is so wrong wit usin "§" or anything like that in ur name? Also how is it a cheat does it make give the player a certain advantage or something?

Another thing one server i usta play on be4 the admin had his name that was big and orange too, and the servers i play on now their are some ppl that come on and have those tags

So im kinda confused here..

It's not a cheat, its not an exploit, the letter was implented into the game and therefor cannot be considered and hack. You are allowed to use as long the server allows it. Anyway, it's frowned upon.

Someone without a mic might want to say something important to his team but then someone spams in.
EG.

Person X :Hey guys, attack the gatehouse from the left side, the right side has a tank.
Moron: WOOOT BIG NAME
Moron: LOL
Medic whore: Clear !

shpox, I completely disagree with you.

Sure, it's not a cheat, but by DICTIONARY DEFINITION, it is an exploit. EA themselves have been asked, and they replied stating that it was an indeed an exploit.

It was implemented so that the game could emphasize certain phrases, like a key you need to press, or something of the sort (think the colored 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' phrases when you are offered a vote of some sort).

It was then stated that the code can be used by server admins, but only in server messages, and other things of the sort. Players decided to abuse that, so the color code was changed (from |c to §C). However, that was discovered, and is STILL being abused.

Even if the server allows it, you are NOT permitted to use. A simple screenshot of you using the code can get you in deep poopoo.

All official EA admins are instructed to ban for it on sight. Ranked server admins are as well, but some of them chose to ignore that instruction.

Didn't know that all, but I do believe this should be posted somewhere in some sort of way so offenders who do use it are notified. I also have a screenshots of people using this code, wondering where it should be posted.

i use the color code and have always used it, my main purpose is to hide as much of my old clan tag as possible because it would conflict with my new one in my prefix, and the large text is just annoying....

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the space on my prefix?

I edited it using the " " via notepad method.

Some clan members have their name set as ClanTag|Nickname and they edited their prefix via notepad.

When I joined up I did the same thing they did and I have space after it yet they don't...

Example: ClanTag| Jester

Any way to fix that? Did I miss something?

Jester, no matter what you do, an assigned prefix will have a space after it (short of using the color/size exploit, which cuts off a bit after it).

The people who don't have a space simply put the clan tag as part of their name, which will bite them in the butt if anything happens that requires them to drop that tag, which they will be unable to do.

Actually the clantag isn't part of their name. Somehow, Im thinking before the 1.12 patch, they were able to use the " | " and it got rid of the space. Now with the 1.12 patch it puts the space there no matter what.

I have a probelm with this manually edited prefix

i added this into the global.con file inbetween "=|S|A|S|=" and when i enter bf2 in the prefix box it only has =|S|A| not all of it just wondering if it only shows all of it when ingame if not how do i get =|S|A|S|= as my clan tag??
