1.03: TV Guided missile doesn't highlight target with first click
1.03: TV Guided missile doesn't highlight target with first click
Ok someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the TV guided missile supposed to highlight the target (place a box around it like jets get), when you click it the first time?
At least that's my understanding from reading the patch notes yesterday? Did they remove it?
Re: 1.03: TV Guided missile doesn't highlight target with first click
For me, whenever I single left-click a target while in TV guided mode, I get this nice little tiny crosshair that marks the target. The tiny crosshair stays on the target until impact or until I click again (and is different from the large crosshair used to line up the target initially).
If I see that the crosshair is STILL over the target while the missile is in flight, I know I don't have to bother clicking to change the course. It's like a great little 'lock-on' feature.
Problem is...my buddy who was playing with me did NOT see this tiny crosshair.
Soooooo...I absolutely LOVE it...but maybe not everybody is seeing it?
Re: 1.03: TV Guided missile doesn't highlight target with first click
No point going the second gunner in the F-15 anymore, DICE have either majorly nerfed TV guided missles or fixed something else and screwed this up in the process.
When you now lock onto a tank, the missle will stay on its original target destination regardless if the tank moves. In 1.02 the missle would follow the tank all over the place and once you had locked on to something, the enemy would be dead in most situations. Whether they did this on purpose or if this how it happens in real life I dont know, either way the F-15 2nd slot now sucks.
Re: 1.03: TV Guided missile doesn't highlight target with first click
laser designation only works if the laser follows the target, if the laser is still pointing at the ground where the tank was the missile will go there

I didn't notice that last night - but I was playing Dragon Valley which is so white I can hardly see the targeting cursor. I'll check for that tonight though - what a nice feature if true.
Re: 1.03: TV Guided missile doesn't highlight target with first click
English is not my primary language, sorry for any errors below :P
I found a workaround:
Do this: Solution 1 - Change Land Vehicles control WARNING: the procedure below change the way we fire with land vehicles.
1- Goto to Options->Controls->Land Vehicle and change the keys/mouse buttons of FIRE to anything excluding the left mouse button (Mouse Button 0)
(I used Space bar for PRIMARY and ALT for SECUNDARY).
2- Start a single player match and go to the gunner seat (let the IA fly :O )
3- Go to TV Missile (right mouse button) and click with the left mouse button.
If if did the procedure correct, the missile wasn't launch and you make a cross mark where did you pointed.
4- Now press onde of the key which you configured the FIRE command.
The missile will be launch and go to the cross mark that you make before.
5- To change the missile course, just keep pressing left mouse button like always.
Explanation
TV Missile cross mark is related with the key/button that we use to select classes, spawn points, squads, etc.
This key is by default the left mouse button (Mouse Button 0), which is the same commonly used to fire, so with the original configuration when we shoot a TV Missile we are doing 2 actions: mark and shoot.
Solution 2 - Change the selecion key WARNING: This procedure will change the button with you select classes, spawn points, squads, etc.
1- Open file ..\My documents\Battelfield2\Profiles\<profile number>\controls.con
Where <profile number> is 001, 002, etc. (open Profile.con and see which one has your Nickname)
2- Change the line :
ControlMap.addButtonToTriggerMapping c_GIOk IDFMouse IDButton_0 0 0

Nice one, LoneGunner! I'll try this out later. One question though, why change the land vehicles controls, since the gunner seat is in the chopper (obviously)!
If this works, I'll make you my god. I love TV missles.
I also love my laser missles, and if they broke them I WILL NOT be happy
