Thats only if your not using a progressive imaging technique which all LCD's use. With progressive anything more than 60 is almost worthless.

My monitor is a 17 inch CRT monitor...atleast 7 years old.

I can play BF2 at 1920X1440 with everything on ULTRA HIGH. Frame rates stay above 30.

I can play BF2 at 1920X1440 with everything on ULTRA HIGH. Frame rates stay above 30.

I'd rather high settings 4xAA 1280x1024 @ 100fps ALWAYS.

The point is that a higher resolution will give you more bang for the buck.
Going from 1024x to 1280x makes the game look much better than going from 2xAA to 4xAA.

I run at 1280x1024 with everything maxed except dynamic lighting, which is on medium. I used to run at 16x12 until 1.02 decided that wasn't allowed anymore. But no big deal, this isn't the kind of game where you stop to admire the anti-aliasing. That kind of behavior gets you a 5.56 in the face.

My specs are as follows:
Asus a7n8x
XP 3200+
1g PC3200
Radeon 9700 Pro

My rig is outdated now, but still has no trouble maxing most games.

After christmas Im going to be building myself a new machine centered around an R520. Probably an FX-55 (maybe the 57 if Ive got money to burn by then, but probably not) and 1g of ram (maybe 2, Im not sure if its worth it).
All that really matters is that R520. The day the UPS man shows up with that package is the day forthfrom my entire life becomes meaningful.
Well... maybe that's a little crazy, but it will certainly be a happy day =D

Why do you still use 1280x960? Chances are you are usign a 17 or 19 inch CRT or LCD, so why don't you put it at 1280x1024 (its not that big of a difference in video power)? I use 1280x1024 and it runs pretty smoothly, but there is no AA (doesn't have any affect) and not all settings on high. specs below in sig.

I run 1600x1200
All high, no AA.

50+ fps Nice and smooth all the time.

athlon 64 3000+
2g ram
ATi Radeon x800XT

had a p4 2.8 before with the same setup otherwise and it couldnt cut it. 20-30fps.

well i got a laptop too, and i have an lcd screen too, 17in widescreen, i play at 1024*768 4xaa, 8xaf and get 50-90 fps, with everything on high.
