$1500 when I baught it.

Reason Why?: My dad said I was getting a Laptop for college and he said I could pick out what I wanted and that the Max price would be $1500. One thing about a laptop is that it is easier then lunking a whole system back home when you feel like it.

Specs:
AMD 3200+ Mobile
ATI 9600 for Laptops
1 Gig of Ram

I'm not rich, and neither is my father.

On another note, what about this place. Seems to be ligit but it takes forever to get the item, i should know i have been waiting for 2 months on the x800 and there are only 4 people in the list so far.

i have a 9300 too. i have it all specs max'd for 1200 shipped. its called using the 40% weekly coupon . still a tad bit more expensive than a comparable desktop (i got 80gig HD and 6800go, 1.2 gig ram etc)but portability (semit at least with this 17" beast, but its only 8 pounds) is a big plus. runs bf2 without a hitch at high res's

I've just begun playing it on the laptop. Playing BF2 in the park is pretty fun but doesn't take long before people start to watch what you're doing over your shoulder :)

I play on IBM T42 P with 1.8 ghz Pentium M and Ati Fire Gl2 with 128 megs...

what laptop do u have and does it run BF2 very well?

I run it on Dell XPS Gen2. It's a sweet machine and great for LAN's, just pick it up and go.

The graphics look great on it, I don't have it maxed out but I haven't really tried to get them higher.
Textures are on Low, Dynamic Shadows on low, Everything else is on Medium or Highest and it runs a dream.

It's got it 1 Gb Ram, 256mb Geforce Go 6800 ULTRA, P4 2.13 Ghz.
I don't think it would play with all settings on high but it's pretty good with the settings I got now.

Well worth it if you do a lot of LAN's or want a decent mobile gaming machine.

I have an inspiron 8600. I have 1.8ghz Centrino Technology which equals 3.0ghz home computer. I got 2 gigs of ram, 80 gb Harddrive, ATI Mobility 9600 pro turbo. The game runs just awesome. The frame rate stays near 50-60 in ordinary fight but goes up to 80-90 when in planes, tanks, or apcs.
My settings are:
Texture, Geometry, Lightning, Texture Details at Medium.
I got Terrain at low and 100% viewing distance. It is just great. Laptops are the future of tomorrow's gaming.

In a year or so my next gaming computer will be a labtop, maybe a dell or alienware and around 1500 to 3000, but thats later when i have a better job and free money. Reasons for a labtop
*Lan parties are more easy
*college friendly
*planes
*when you want to have coffie and watch tv in the living room on the couch
*in the car
*at the park
*lots of other planes other then my room.

Lan parties: Yes, that's true. You'll still have an underpowered computer relative to the desktop luggers.

College friendly: *shrugs* I dont remember anything that made a desktop unfriendly about college

Planes/Car/Park: Nope. You have any idea how short the battery life on a gaming PC is? Maybe in the car if you have it plugged in, but a gaming laptop does not have a battery life worth anything. Especially if you are trying to play a game.

laptops will never become mainstream gaming machines simply because they are too compact and designed for battery performance. the slower refresh rates on most TFTs are worse than even the cheapest LCD monitors out there. also the keyboard layout, especially on more compact laptops is so crammed pressing the wrongs keys is always a problem.

I also have an Acer Aspire but the 1680, doesn't have a good enough card to play BF2.

Lots of guys at my work lan after work and play Halo (yeah I know they are kinda g@y, they have no clue what they are missing) I would love to be able to lan at work without having to bug the admin to build me a new SLI machine lol.
