Red DOT on spawn is your Squad Leader.
When it's red, he is either in a vehicle with no spaces left for you to go or he is dead and had a 15 second spawn time limit and therefore you cannot spawn on a dead SL.

He means, don't press Q to bring up the commo-rose and then right click to select the type of enemy (apc/armour/soldier etc). Instead press Q to bring up the commo-rose and just left click Enemy Spotted and it will automatically select the correct type of enemy and display the appropriate message.

Can you punctuate this, because I am having trouble getting whether you mean:

or
something else.

What he's saying is if you see an enemy, zoom in with right click, and then Q/Spotted. If you are zoomed in on the enemy, no matter if it's a troop, a tank, an APC, and choose the big SPOTTED circle, it will automatically call out exactly what it is for you instead of you having to choose by right clicking after Q.

What have you been smoking? GREEN dot is squad leader - green dot with red around edges is a squad leader that is dead or cannot be spawned on because vehicle is full.

He is talking about when you see blue dots on your mini map - and they have red halos around them - almost looks like blue dot over a red blob/blur

I agree with the above poster saying this is from medic or support seeing person in need.

Don't think that's entirely right...

Red dot is a capped flag which won't let you spawn for some reason (under fire, too busy etc.)

Green dot with red "Halo" is your squad leader as you describe above.

I've only seen the red dot a few times and it tends to dissapear after a bit.
