Yup, know that & with a GOOD pilot its easy to do. What I'm saying is some pilots think they are leet by flying incredibly close to the ground, when you fire the TV missile there is no time to steer it before it hits the ground & takes out the helo. Like I said, I've flown with some gr8 pilots & have guided those missiles in on some tanks & APCs, and Ive flown with some morons who dont give the gunner an opportunity. Pilots need to recognise their gunner is a useful asset & not just a passenger to impress with their flying.

erhmm no... you can guide the TV -->guide<-- missile

just keep cliking it to adjust.... (just learned that myself last week:cry: )

and to the pilots... You cant practice being a gunner alone... you need to be in combat

So somewhere the new gunners have to start

You can guide them but not very accurately.
You need to be, at least, close to the target because you can only make a few minute adjustments in the short space of time before it hits.
Thats what most pilots don't understand.

There's really no point in firing if you're not close to the target or have a decent enough aim on it.
Thats happens when the pilot flies too fast past the target or when they haven't lined the heli up with the target.

That would be pointless, cause why aim the gun where the pilot could shoot rockets. Same goes with tanks. I never aim the same direction as the turret is facing. Two directions of cover is always better than one. Especially when sitting still. Damn Spec Ops .... LOL
I hope noone alredy responded to this. As a matter of fact no there isn't. The center of the gunners TV-view is a 1-2 centimeters below the crosshair. There was a thread with some screenshots a while back go find that and stop spreading rubbish.

There is a square on the pilot HUD showing the gunners view, but it's only their cannon-view, not the TV-missile view.

Re: If you are the gunner in the attack choppers...

I was playing with ={PS}=Rage on Kubra Dam yesterday and we alternated pilot and gunner on the attack choppers, making by far the highest scores on the server... for one very good reason: we both understood how to pilot the helo individually to take out vehicles when our gunner either missed his TV Missile shot or simply didn't have a lined up shot in a decent amount of time, or made it so he would be able to line it up and shoot while we kept the thing stable. It was a great example of how, with proper teamwork and communication/understanding, this game can be loads of fun to play even on public servers with unknown players. I have no real tips to offer to improve on the flying/gunning (partly because I can't explain worth a damn), except to just keep at it and consider the other player when taking a course of action.

                If youre the pilot then......

FFS FLY Steady and smooth over a flag or target!!!!!!

There ive said it. How many times do pilots fly like theyve got a bee up their a**. Keep it steady so gunners can have half a chance of hitting anything. there are 2 guys in the chopper you know. OH, yeah I forgot most pilots are too selfish to give atoss about the gunners. Hiw do we get over this huge problem in bf2????

While Im at it, thanks to all the decent pilots ive flown with who do follow this and fly steady. the rest of you FFS learn!!!!

Keep clicking? WTf? Just hold the button down when you fire and steer with the mouse.

Re: If you are the gunner in the attack choppers...

btw the missile control in the heli gunner spot sucks, I can only control it for about 1 second...is that how its meant to be?

Cuz i see people firing awsome missile shots when im in a helicopter battle and i am flying around like crazy, what will happen is that here i am knocking another heli to pieces with my gunner and my missiles, my gunner misses with his missile or has to reload it, and then whilst flying all around the place, i see this missile coming at me, and it just keep homing and homing and homing, i usually go to the left when trying to dodge, but no the missile is locked or something....
But if i try to lock a missile on a heli, it never works, nor can i control the damn thing, i right click, point, aim shoot, and try to adjust the aim to what i am shooting at and i end up missing.

If you get a good pilot TV's missiles are deadly.

The only time I need a gunner other is when Im against another attack chopper other than that all they do it steal your kills.

Gunners, it is not that we pilots do not understand it's just that we dont care.
