As long as you can keep the "blackhawk down" if at all necessary, Mashtuur isn't so bad as mech. It's fun. Even if you don't fly the Hip. :)

One sure fire way to help fight BH whoring that doubles as being really boring....

      Spawn at the MEC chopper pad and man the AA turret. I do this when MEC is getting BH whored and it is actually really effective in 3 ways;

      1) You might kill it. it rarely happens but that's not really where the total effect is.

      2) By setting off the cockpit alarm and adding an additional source of fire, you really change how the BH plays, you are certainly shooting at them w/ occasional hits. You also severely limit them [almost prevent them] at the lower MEC flag for the chopper pad [32 player map] and at the left close spawn (open where the flag has a wood fence around it and the sheds, not the power plant.)
The BH lights up somewhere close to half way accross the map.
Their confidence is down some and they won't fly around like they own the place on your half of the map.

      3) They may come to get you for payback or to shut you up hence not taking other flags/ killing other people.
There's no flag to take at the Turret/pad and you can re-spawn there and plant an AT or 2 into them w/ excellent cover from the buildings.
They start flying away and send a few AA missiles as parting gifts.

It's a boring & low scoring spot but every time I've played it, I've never gotten cap'd and the games were certainly alot closer.

A 6-fer every now and then with a justified 'ownt' comment certainly makes the waiting worth it.

No, I don't agree with you. The MI-7 is nothing but a flying coffin.

        1. It has a lot of throttle, but it's damn hard to control it. Hovering is something really difficult and you have to approach your target with very little speed. This makes you an easy target for ATs and mounted MGs.

        2. The Crew in the MI-7 is very vulnerable. They can easily get killed by some small fire arms while sitting in the back of it.

        3. The chopper itself is very vulnerable. Just a few rounds of the .50 cal of a Humvee make it explode.

        4. When facing a BH, the MI-7 is completely inferior, as the miniguns, the passenger's protection and the armor of the BH are just way better.

I think the BH should be nerfed. At least it should be more vulnerable.

Pre-Patch, I would take that Big Bertha and C4 the nose, then ram the snot outa the BH crews. That was my fix to the lack of Air Defenses on that map. I made my own slow missile.

I'm sorry, but I can fly a BH from the East and side of the AA's position. You'll never get a lock on me by the time my mini-guns kill you.

Also the only flag that you cover is the NW MEC's main flag. When I want to take that all I need to do is hover about 10m off the ground and you loose your lock. I then use the large building as cover to loose your lock again and goto the next flag.

Any BH pilot who know's what he's doing can pretty much make the MEC's AA totally ineffective.

However, the way to OWN the USMC in this map is not to keep killing the BH over and over again with Vodiks, but rather take their helipad spawn. Take your tank from the SW flag and drive it all the way west and take the spawn. Of all the vehicles on Mastuur, the tank has the best survival rate against a BH since the driver is immune to the mini-gun fire.

However, a good BH pilot will hover over the tank and have their engineers drop AT mines on it.

Once you take out the BH and keep the spawn the game is much easier. Some of the best games I've been in was when we had the USMC's main base and the BH spawn and the USMC had our Main base and our transport spawn - really fun.

I've also seen where the MEC uses their transport helicopter just like the BH, but they are less effective against resistance (I literially seen people stand in the middle of the road shooting AT rockets at the transport).

The US main base is easy to take with 3+ MEC troops in the MI-8, since the base is very rarely defended when there's not a blackhawk waiting to spawn. The best way is to circle around the NE corner of the map, so no USMC will spot you heading for their base. After you take it, have someone stationed in the AA gun in case the blackhawk comes back.
