    I usually have my 3d map off. To me, it's more of an annoyance than it is helpful. I'll switch it on for a few seconds, but unless I can make those icons translucent, it's just a blind spot.

          a) I don't hit mines
          b) I drive in 1st person

          I think people hit mines becuase they aren't paying attention, not because of the view they select. Just my opinion

            This is not always the case. In some places, like the crests of hills, you can't see a mine in 1st person as you approach. For example, the land bridge in Strike at Karkand. If the MEC places mines at the top of the ramp, drivers of vehicles can't see it as they approach it from the water and go up the ramp. They only know it's there if either they switch to an outside view or when their vehicle goes boom.
