"Cheap" or "pathetic", it is a legitimate tactic.

Re: Ramming - A Tactic or not?

Everyone here is talking about a chopper being rammed by another chopper. I think that's fine for the most part. There's one surefire way to avoid being rammed...DON'T HOVER! Now I do absolutely hate when a jet rams a chopper. Just seems a bit lame to me. If you want to eliminate ramming from the game, make the missiles more accurate. Until the mounted AA and the jet launched A to A missiles are made more accurate and more difficult to avoid, you're going to find frustrated pilots ramming each other. Oh, and an aside for Hoagie, I've played on your server and have actually collided with you in air to air chopper combat. You and your copilot accused me of ramming but that wasn't the case. In fact, your spin and evade tactic brough your chopper into mine from above...Of course, I was called a rammer. All I'm saying is that, since the choppers carry only straight rockets and guns, you need to get a bit closer for chopper combat. You're going to get collisions unless you engage from a distance and keep moving.

Tactic - An expedient for achieving a goal; a maneuver.

therefore ramming is a tactic, since the goal is to take out an adversity.

Yep, what he said. People get too caught up in their own ego about how skillfull a particular action is.

This game is meant to be balanced TEAMWISE not player wise, that is why they have vehicles and classes of varying strength.

By its nature this game isn't about "shooting skill" like a game like counterstrike is.

Skill in this game is figuring out how to secure a win for your team, not just how good you can shoot an M16.

People complain about blackhawk whoring and then complain about people ramming into said blackhawk which is whoring. Can't have it both ways. Well I guess you can if all you want to do is complain.

While it doesn't take any skill to hit a blackhawk with a jet it does take some skill to hit a nonhovering blackhawk with the chinese/mec transport chopper.

Ask the Japs if ramming is a tactic...wait for the Forgotten Hope 2 mod I will Kamakazi in a heart beat!! As for ramming taking no skill I suppose BH whoring, witch is the usual suspect in a ramming debate, takes skill? Its a game about war,...do whatever it takes to win. (except hacking)

ill jihad a blackhawk...c4 on the nose then ram its ass...i only usually do it if they have a load of engis on board repairing it all the time cos that really annoys me otherwise i usually try the c4 on the flagpole...

it is possible to tip a blackhawk by pushing it over...slight nudges and a well placed push can send it flying into a wall hehe most satisfactrory

Re: Ramming - A Tactic or not?

I think ramming is totally bogus. Especially if they take a vehicle, put explosives on it and right as they impact a tank they get out and blow IT AND THEMSELVES to Kingdom come. I think there should be a spawn time penalty for the players that blow themselves to smitherines. It's the same for those M203 wh0res that put that 40mm right at their feet because they can't switch to another weapon in time. Any time someone kills themselves, it should come with a spawn time penalty. Maybe an additional 10 seconds spawn.

I kill myself a lot on accident, so I know the repercussions of that type of change, and I'm not bitching.

I dont set out to use ramming as a tactic, but sometimes it is the only way.
For example, a cobra was taking our main base and decided to land while doing it. I saw him when I was driving a jeep and no other vehicles were around. I rammed the chopper and killed him/his gunner and myself, saving the main base from capture. I could have tried to shoot him with the jeep, but he probably would have either killed me or flown away and tried another flag.
Another tactic that I discovered is the "ram mec transport chopper into tank"; takes practice but a direct hit always kills a tank.

really? i tried to ram APCs -- and I mean getting the heli completely vertical and nosedive straight into the turret -- but nothing happened -- where did you hit the tank from? from the back?

Re: Ramming - A Tactic or not?

I will ram, but it is never my first option, because I want to go home alive. Side effect of fast spawn times. Plus, you can always bail out before you hit :)

Skill has nothing to do with tactics. In fact, why would you choose something less reliable over something more reliable? Why don't you try to kill all your opponents with your pistol? That would really take some serious skill!

That said, anyone bragging on how great they are at ramming people would need their head examined.

Its a tactic to me. Any means necessary to get the BH out the sky. The response is always "Just shoot it out the sky" but lets be real. You have to be out of sight of the BH and have a bad pilot just to be able to get enough shots on it so it can't repair. And then 2 minutes later its back loaded up again. So if ramming is what it takes then do it.

I don't agree with Sniperdoc and the whole extra spawn time...what if I c4 an APC and only have that one second to blow it up? Why should I suffer for that?

As for air ramming? I don't care because I don't fly a heli nor do I fly a plane...

Running people over with a car? I do that. What, should I stop and let the enemy cross the street safely so he can use the GL or AT rocket on me? Nah...

                              Thats it right there.

This isnt CS. If you dont like how the vehicles are used, you're probably playing the wrong game.

Common, I was just playing Mashtur City and we( me and one other AT) took down a Full BH 2 times before it decided not to come back. Immunity my Brown Eye. The game has been out for 3 Full months, and people are still complaining about the BH. If you people could only Aim. Ramming a BH/Attack Helo is the laimest thing this game has to offer. Atleast people who BH "Whore" are using the equipment the way it was meant to be(okay, sorta :p ). Cheap Tactic, plain and simple!
