    Yes,
I hate it because it is always a detering factor when ever I want to fly.

Happens all the time and usually ends up in quite a few teamkills.

It happens when your teammate gets out of a vehicles drivers seat (the seat is empty), it will show up as an enemy asset for several seconds immedietly afterwards.

Here is a video I made a while ago showing this to others that didn't understand/believe me. http://tacticalpimps.nato-ladder.com/images/HUDjet.wmv

It clearly shows that there is only two of us in the server and both of us are on my team, you see the targeting cue flip back and forth from enemy to friendly a couple times. That was my buddy on my team getting in and out of the vehicle.

Always check your minimap before approaching an area for a bombing run.

That's why you should look at your minimap before you drop your bombs.

                  Idiots.

All talk but the question is when your a pilot will you actually do it? There is no need to tell you that travelling at 900 KM/H on the throttle means targets pass in seconds, and not only that but a mipmap is almost hard to look at if you have 2 seconds to line up a carpet or dive bomb.

The truth is when your dive bombing I'll laugh my ass off if you run into the ground looking at your mip map...

Re: Ground Target icon bug for fighter/bombers

I don't want to sound arrogant or anything, but I don't think I've ever bombed a friendly vehicle while playing BF2, and that says a lot because I fly a hell of a lot too. All you have to do is quickly check your minimap as you fly over an area before you bomb, just a glance, and there really isn't any worry. Maybe for you (or anyone else for that matter) it is difficult, but for me at least I find it easy enough.

It also helps to have a general idea of what is going on in the battle when you're flying. I am almost always the Squad Leader when I play BF2, so I am constantly checking the UAV scans, radio "Spottings" and my team's flag situation while I am flying just so that I know what is going on in the area before I bomb. It sounds like a lot to keep track of, and it is at times, but if you just 'keep your wits about you' (as they say) you'll do a lot better as a pilot, rather than flying like a rogue, going after whatever targets you feel like. I always listen for "Enemy armor spotted" or "Enemy APC spotted" calls to see what I should go after, it really helps in keeping my own team's armored situation on the move.

That said, I do fly a lot and have been since DC .1 came out so maybe I just have too much experience. You really don't have to 'dive bomb' to be accurate in BF2, it's all about timing, airspeed-to-target estimation (Yea I made that up) and I guess some sort of natural inclination with regards to physics and motion. You just have to know when to drop the bombs and at what angle. It takes a bit of practice but I didn't find it that hard after a few weeks of playing the demo. Just keep working on it and you'll get it, then maybe you can quickly glance at your minimap before you bomb like I do.

It isn't that hard to check the map before you get there, you can start viewing your minimap before the base comes into view. It's always good to do that anyways, you can see where your team is moving to and bomb ahead for them.

I believe it's related to the red team mate bug.

that's why i don't fly the bomber much. You don't see the nametags until you drop your bombs and are climbing up.

I prefer to gun in the bombers. But even then i get a targer, and get tks for it. Friendly vehicles should not even appear on it at all.

Even better, have red Xs when in aircraft where your teammates are.

Perhaps you miss the entire point of the hud putting an X over friendly targets and not enemies - its so you KNOW it is an enemy without having to consult a minimap, the hud, scoreboard, other teammates and the pertinent star charts for everyone on the server. Why are you verbally assaulting someone for validly complaining about faulty IFF code? Is your penis really that small?
