You really need to stop thinking selfishly for a second. Even though you don't hang out in choppers and planes like some people, they paid for the same game. The game would not be fun in a vehicle because you would just die in a matter of seconds. I have easily taken out a full BH with an APC and a Humvee gun. It really isn't that hard and is balanced as of now. I agree that the engineers shouldnt be able to repair it in mid air, and I believe that are taking care of this in the patch. I say just leave it the way it is because the game is fun.
My $.02.
To begin my rebuttal, I do fly helicopters quite often (when given the chance) and am decent at flying, therefore I would also feel the effects of an added aa kit.
In order for an apc or tank to take out a helicopter, that helicopter either needs to be flying quite low or the apc and tank are at a higher elevation shooting down on the helicopter (the later not always being the smartest, for to sit at a higher elevation in a tank or apc waiting for the enemy chopper denies the team that armor asset for capturing flags and helping on the frontline). And even if the helicopter is hit by an apc at-missile or a tank's shell, and then pounded by the auxiliary machine gun, it still proves to be a challenge to take down (if the pilot is aware of the apc/tank's position).
If portable aa stingers were introduced, they would most likely be toned down from their stationary counterparts (in respect to the damage they cause). The advantage then being that you can lock onto your target from anywhere on the map (therefore adding another level of necessary strategy to a pilot's flying).
