    AA kit

Although there probably won't be much use for this idea after the installation of the 1.03 patch, I will still share this idea.

Trying to engage fully manned blackhawks or attack helicopters flown by an efficient team can feel a bit futile, especially if the gunners of those helicopters know where all of the stinger and tow sights are located on each map. Even if you land a few at missiles or chop away at a helicopter using a mounted 50 cal machine gun, there is usually ample time for the chopper to escape and repair back at base. I won't even begin to get into how imbalanced the ground to air fighting is in respect to the jets...needless to say a player basically has to combat a good jet pilot with a jet of his or her own.

It would therefore be delectable if each kit had its own alternate armorment, similar to switching back and forth between unlockable weapons and the standard issue weapons. In this way, an anti-tank kit could double as an anti-air kit, simply by switching the kit's layout in the selection screen before spawning. The alternate weapon for the anti-tank could be a portable stinger that would be much more effective against the seemingly impervious air assets. Of course you would be stuck with stingers as this kit until you died but I'm sure it would come in handy, especially on Shonghu Stalemate or Matshurr.

In respect to the alternate configurations for the other kits, the sky is the limit (of course they would be somewhat toned and refined to ensure balance is kept).

I'm sure a lot of you will say this is a bad idea, but I can't stop thinking about portable stingers when I play as MEC on Matshurr (which only has 2 stinger sites, easily learned and avoided by pilots) and the blackhawk takes all of our flags within a matter of minutes.

If any of you have cool ideas for alternative weapon/supply layouts for each kit, please share them! Even if you think your ideas aren't implementable, it's still fun to fantasize.

I think a Stinger bazooka for the AT guy as unlock is a great idea, the bazooka is his primaty weapon and all the other unlock are also replacements for the primary weapon.

but at the other hand, when like three or four AT guys are running around with the stinger on there shoulder, you can't fly any chopper for like 5 sec on any map

the best fix would be if the AT rocket could take down a BH in one shot.. like a REAL AT rocket would if u got a chance to hit a BH.. they are anti tank rockets.. a helicopter isnt a tank and doesnt have NEARLY the armor (read hardly any at all)... that being said i dont usually have an issue taking down BH's most of the time

Its a good idea. I tried to make that idea work through the coding but didn't get very far....
I believe it to be possible but it has something to do with the python coding of the game. You kinda need to know your stuff when dealing with python which is where I failed.
Don't be surprised if this idea shows up in some mods though...
Especially seeing as it would double the amount of weapons that could be selected and rid the game of this poor ranking system.
EA's ranking system in its current form can't be used in mods anyway.

Blackhawks should be able to stand an RPG hit as long as its not to the tail/engine.

            Re: AA kit

i agree, the upgrade from the AT kit should be an AA kit, i shoot at helo's all the time with my AT kit and sometimes, but rarely, planes. I think they messed the whole kit idea up completely eg the upgrade from the assault kit with a 203 launcher to a gun with no 203 thats more like a down grade to me and also the spec ops from a sighted gun to an unsighted gun ... again an almost down grade and having said that it could almost be the other way around especially fot the assault guy ig i can give an example of what i would have done with the assault guy, the standard would have been the M16 (single/burst) with 3 grenades and a smoke grenade the upgrade would have been an M16 (single/auto) with a 203 launcher + 3 203 grenades and 3 hand grenades and a smoke grenade or 2. I really think they should redo a lot of the kits but hey thats just my 2 cents worth, its a fun game.

            :)

just be able to switch between AA and AT missiles.
say you have a total of 5 missiles. thats either 5 AA, 5 AT or some combo of each, 2AA and 3AT, 4AT and 1AA, etc.

two weapons that use the same ammo.

For an easy way to shoot the BH pilot get the M24. Fire 2 rounds directly at the pilots head in the same spot, the two shots will get through and kill the pilot. I know probably no one else has heard or tested this but I have successfully proven this for myself.

I beleive that a whole new AA kit is in order here. Stinger and a spec-ops type rifle would be ideal for this sort of application I think. Never gonna happen, but still. . .

                    Re: AA kit

spec-op rifle would propably unbalance the kit.. I'd settle for a stinger and the basic (or unlocked) AT secondary weapon

The idea is great, and has been done in BF1942 mods for sure.

DC had unguided ones, in addition to the AT rockets and if my memory isn't totally playing tricks with my mind, 21cw had homing stingers as a seperate kit!

and it worked.. a good chopper pilot would still have a chance , while at least it felt like we could strike back. and in 21cw, the stingers where very good but limited in numbers, all great fun in the end.

Just ask some of the guys who where pilots back then.. they still got the job done though they might not get monster kill streaks anymore!

                      Re: AA kit

This simply has to be considered. It was introduced in Desert Combat (BF 1942 mod) and made everything just that much more even.

And I'm a BF2 pilot and still think some kind of stinger kit is necessary.

maybe let the engi have some type of rifle? i find that the reason why most people dont use the engineer kit alot is beacuse you will easily get killed if you find yourself in a mid-long range place. Also instead of the G3 upgrade maybe let the upgrade be an M8

You really need to stop thinking selfishly for a second. Even though you don't hang out in choppers and planes like some people, they paid for the same game. The game would not be fun in a vehicle because you would just die in a matter of seconds. I have easily taken out a full BH with an APC and a Humvee gun. It really isn't that hard and is balanced as of now. I agree that the engineers shouldnt be able to repair it in mid air, and I believe that are taking care of this in the patch. I say just leave it the way it is because the game is fun.

                          My $.02.

Where as an RPG to the cockpit area wont bring it down?

I think the AA kit would be pretty cool, and probly unlikely ever to be seen, but then again despite all the missiles I shoot at aircraft from the fixed or aa vehicles.... I have yet to ever hit anything other than using the vehicle main guns...

I know others have shot things down with missiles, but I have not... and Lord knows I have tried.

well think of it in real life...can U take out an airplane? well airplanes have their own little world..they cant cap flags..they mostly likely wont kill you if u r not in ur base..
