Costco doesnt have that. I have a 2500 dollar costco card that I won.

Be careful with that computer. They list it as having 2GB of DDR2 system RAM. Only one problem, the motherboard listed doesn't take DDR2, it only takes DDR.

First let me start of by saying (AND I AM SURE YOU WILL FIGURE IT OUT :)) I am not a professional reviewer. The info below is just my experience on a topic I see crop up here from time to time. I tend to ramble and failed grammer in high school so bear with me.

"Laptops are not meant for gaming" I think this is a common misconception on peoples part. As a matter of fact most vendor now days realize a huge potential market in mobile gaming platforms. Sager, Dell, Alienware, Falcon NW, Vodoo etc. etc.

With that said I will tell you my experience with laptop gaming, and the three different units I have owned in the last 9 months..

BAck in Feb. of this year I purchases a HP ZD8000 notebook. While calling this thing a notebook is subjective it is portable. Here are the specs. I wont get into all the details of the three notebooks I am going to cover just the important parts for gaming.

ATI Mobility X600 256MB ram.

The X600 is a nice card and I was excited to see it in a laptop. Most of the games I played at the time were MMORPG's Starwars Galaxies, World of Warcraft. I did some RTS games on it as well. Axis and Allies, Warhammer 40k, Empire earth 1&2. I also had the unit long enough to play the BF2 on it.

While it performed well for a major portion of the games I played the "Battlefield changed" with the release of BF2. 1024X768 on low detail and it was a great platform. But who the heck wants to live with that. Now couple that with the fact that unit weighs about 11 pounds. The power supply weighs about 4 and is the size of a red paving brick. The laptop itself sounds like a blackhawk taking off. Put it all in a backpack and with the tuner and accessories you might as well be lugging a desktop and a flatpanel around. I'm sure the desktop would not be as hot and would not be as loud either.

Fast forward July 1st this year. I sold the HP on ebay and purchases one of the lovely Toshiba Qosimo G25 units.

Like night and day, This one was quiet, runs cool, much lighter (but still not perfect at about 9 pounds), Had a "Normal" size power supply. I no longer had to lug a external TV tuner around in my gear that was the size of a toaster (TOSHIBAS is built in).

The best feature of the G25 is the screen. It's only 1440X900 but it is by far the BEST display I have seen on a notebook ever.

This unit played all the before mentioned games with no problem. In battlefield 2 I could run 1024X768 at medium detail. This includes shadows and lighting. Very acceptable performance for BF2 and a pleasure to game on with the awesome screen this unit has. You can tweak the setting a little and push up thinks like texture and geometry by dropping down dynamic lighting and shadows. I really wish I would have had a chance to try this unit with 2 gigs of ram, because I now know for a fact that ram does make a huge difference in the performance of this game, but sadly I had this unit until about 2 weeks ago when I sold it on ebay and moved on to my third notebook.

Just a note about the Toshiba though. It price tag is very cost prohibitive for most people $2999.00 retail in almost every store in America (BB,FRYS,Circuit City) With only acceptable results for gaming, unless you have a specific need for a multimedia notebook (LOVE MEDIA CENTER and recording TV programs on your laptop) Skip to the next Rig for the ULTIMATE in mobile gaming.

It pains me to say it because I hate the company. Their support blows monkey nuts, and you need to learn to speak Urdu to understand them, but DELL does have the best gaming notebook out there.

There are many offerings from other companies and YES Alienware and Sager and several others offer notebook with awesome video cards that can produce the same results as the Dell XPS Gen2, but they all also suffer from the same problem my HP ZD8000 had. SIZE, NOISE, HEAT!!! and lots of each of the three. These units are large 11-14 LBS. Huge power supplies, and because they use desktop Processors instead of the more efficient but just as powerful Centrino, they gobble up power and generate enough heat to sterilize you if you set this over your bag for prolonged periods everyday.

The XPS is light around 9 pounds. Small power supply uses DDR2 533 memory instead of the common 400. Looks oh so sweet with all the LED's and the crome finish. And of course has the GForce Go6800 Ultra in it. IF you time it right you can get coupons online for this unit for Hundreds off or %off like 35%. That knocks a huge dent in the overall price of this unit and you can end up with one loaded for about 2k.

I have thrown every game I have at this thing on max detail and they all play just fine. Right now I do BF2 at 1600X1200 on high detail and it is smoth and more playable than any of the other 2 notebooks I have had.
No matter what notebook you buy, get 2 gigs of ram. I pulled one of the ram modules from the unit just to see how much it affects it. Now keep in mind this drops me out of dual channel mode, but the performance increase for dual channel as always been in my opinion minimal. A few %.
At 1gig of ram on the same unit I had to start dropping quality settings. It didnt really make much of a difference when changing resolution like to 1024X768. Most of the performance increases where in loweing lighting and shadows, gemoetry, textures etc.

For those of you that think you have a high end system but still can't seem to get the performance your expecting, get more ram.
All in all I think you would be happy with any latop you buy for gaming as long as you stick two 3 simple things. ATI Mobility X800, Geforce Go6800 Ultra. At least 2 gig of ram.
Which vendor you go with at that point is a matter of preference. If you can live with lugging about a boat anchor Aleinware offers some real nice featrues such as dual drives and raid configurations, and your choice of ATI or Nvidia.

cant upgrade laptops. once the GPU goes out of date time to buy a desktop. i did. o ya and good luck with getting drivers for your widscreen notebook solution graphics cards when they need to be updated in a year or so, becuase my laptop has a geforce 4200 go and nvidia stopped making drivers for it long time ago.

what do u mean they cant be upgraded. i can upgrade my HDD, video card, and the video card and thats a dell inspiron 9100.

Don't be a hater. Like most people your just ignorant and now it shows..

I would guess by your coments that you know nothing at all about mobile computing. Just like most of the clicks in the PC community (overclockers, case modders etc) we have a passion for mobile computing. And its obvious you know nothing about it. So clam up and go do something useful like pad your stats or something.
