Re: Sniping: A new (nerfed) perspective

I never seem to have a prob with the sniper. I just find it hard to hit a moving target, sometimes if i am lucky they will run in the path i think they will take and i will get the kill but 8/10 times it doesnt happen that way.

They really should have given the m95 more stopping power, .50 Cal for christ sake. The arcade excuse can't be used because the .50 cal Browning in this game is noticeably different to the others machine guns.

To me a sniper is not defined by a scoped rifle, so your still a sniper in my eyes.

I don't get where people are coming from when they say they can't get long range kills. It's no problem for me anyways, and below 100 meters a headshot is so freaking easy. even the drag shot is a breeze once you know how to do it. Just lead the guys head a bit for a couple of seconds then "BOOM! HEADSHOT!"

As a sniper i use the M95. It is very close to a one shot kill. But put this in to consideration. Your target may have been shot just once with a M9 witch is just enough to take him down in one shot.

Shoting a pilot befor he takes off is easy because you can just aim for the head, you have about 3-4 seconds before he takes off.

Also if your good you can go for the headshot. ppl want to be snipers but they say the class sucks. You have to use not only your rifle but other items as well.

As a sniper your head is your most powerfull weapon.

            see this thread....http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showt...445#post400445

I SAY the guns are accurate...if not...then you have bad FPS or you're not taking into account the BULLET DROP...yes bullet drop...not deviation...the only random deviation in BF2 is when you go full automatic. don't believe me...see this..http://media.putfile.com/M95-Bullet-Drop

Re: Sniping: A new (nerfed) perspective

I have found that going the U.S. and MEC Spec Ops kit is best for short and even long range hits.

1.) Their sites are much more open and less restrictive than the other kits when aiming. This gives the shooter much more open eye room and it really does make a difference.

2.) The red dot really helps place the round where it needs to go. For Short range aim just below the chin line for an even kill shot to the head. For Long range AIM just slightly above your enemy's helmut. Why? Because anything out further than 100m the bullet is going to decend and to compensate this you aim slightly higher. There have been many that have done test to see if in BF2 the bullet actually does decend as it would in real life and it does. Don't let others tell you otherwise.

3.) You have the option of going semi or full auto. For medium range sniping with the Spec Ops weapon it is best to use full auto. By slightly tapping the mouse button it will release burst of 2 to 4 rounds, this is plenty. Like I said AIM slightly below the chin line, depress the mouse button slightly and it's 100% percent kill all the time. For long range, set your selector switch to Semi which will allow you to depress 1 round at a time. By doing this it allows far greater accuracy at long ranges lessening the recoil. AIM slightly above top of enemy's helmut, Kill 100% of the time.

4.) Spec Ops weapons are better to especially when having to lead your target. When you see your enemy dart across the street and your at 100m or less, Aim the dot just slightly in front of the moving target, keep selector on full auto and Aim at the lower torso. As you depress rounds the recoil will push the direction of the bullets up with each round released, therefore the first shot hitting the mid-torso, chest, neck and finally middle of face. The first two allocate some damage through their kevlar, the second two are the death blows. This has worked for me every single time.

5.) For shooting down snipers off of the hotel or elevated positions with Spec ops weapon set selector to semi, depress one round just above enemy's helmut, this will drop him. Another reason for setting to semi mode while shooting at targets at elevated positions is to keep your position secure because with full auto set the muzzle blast is easily seen from afar.

              Enjoy - Red

thats not sniping. Sniping is the ablity to take out targets at long range with out being detected. Theres so much to get into but im not going to get into it.

The reason people hate sniper class, is because they lack patience.
It takes a lot of patience for a perfect shot and some strategy. Sure you can run around sniping and claymore the hell out of the place, but you risk being seen and getting killed. Plus, people always hide in the same spots, or try to snipe on the move.

From what i read in another thread with the AK-101 a headshot is a oneshot kill (3*39 damage) and with the M-95 a headshot is only 3*30:cry:. This really sux if its accurate

Re: Sniping: A new (nerfed) perspective

I think the original poster is missing the whole point of the sniper kit. The sniper kit is for long-range killing, beyond that which is feasible with the other kits. If you're using it regularly for <=150m you're doing it "wrong".

I'd also argue that the specops carbine is a better sniper replacement. I've picked quite a few snipers off with the ol' red dot in one shot mode.

Also, if you're a shooter in real life, it's very important you don't rely on your aiming/leading skills, because the physics are all ****ed up.

I don't understand why everyone badmouths the M24/M95 accuracy. It's outstanding, you just need to get on a low-ping server. High ping servers make it useless. I don't experience any of these deviation woes, except on high ping servers.

I dont know how people can take the morral highground because they get lots of points and few kills...as if theyre are playing the game the only way it should be played.

Getting kills wont win the game...but capturing flags isnt the fastest way to win either.

THE FASTEST WAY TO WIN IS TO KEEP THE FLAGS...points are irrelavent.
