yeah its really dumb the way the username has been handled. Alot of peolpe dont know this but you can actually change your username if you log onto gamespy using your battlefield account details and change it there BUT when you load up battlefield your new username shows in BFHQ but not in game - it remains your account name instead. All it needs is one little change in code to change the name displayed in game to be your gamespy username instead of the account name. thats it - like a couple of minutes coding. yet another example of dumb people doing things the hard way.

Heya guys, don't you think that the fact of adding just a 6 chars prefix is even dumber than the fact of not being able to do it?? I mean, dont u think 6 chars are very few?? And they are even fewer if we think that 2 or 1 of them usually are the "[]" or "." ie [clan]Ryknow or Clan.Ryknow... Anyway, what about the clans with longer tags or if you have a tag in ur account name already... Man, the more i think of it, the dumber it seems to be...

Clan tags are supposed to be short. Having long clan tags kind of defeats the purpose of it being a "tag"

Yeah, short but not so short. Anyway, what about if i want to change name without loosing my stats. Hell, im not a programmer but i think it would have not been much more difficult to add than the 6 char prefix... If they wanna ban could use ur PID or sth as some1 already said.

Perhaps I'm alone in this, but I like that the names are fixed. It's great to log into a server and know that there's some persistence to the game world - there won't be two "Overdrive"s online to cause confusion.

Putting your clan tag in your name (and then bitching about it) when there's never been a mechanism for a name change shows limited foresight.

It hacks me off too, EA is pretty dumb if they think a 6-character tag will shut the community, who is wanting FULL name change.

And I don't care if there are 50 other people that would use my name, I don't want to have to put !_#$PVTRYAN!#@#1233312 to be able to have my own name.

I think 6 is perfectly reasonable. What kind of clan has more than 6 characters in their tag? It's obnoxious.

It is better than nothing but its the dumb way to do it. We have a number of new recruits who we allow to use their current name not including our tags so they don't lose their unlocks and was hoping that patch 1.03 would allow people to fully change their names. I really can't see any point in not allowing someone to fully change their name, its just dumb!

Well, since accounts have unique PIDs to identify them, there really shouldn't be a problem changing names. However, people who put their clan tags in their names made a really naive mistake. You knew there was no way to change your name when you signed up (or shortly thereafter), did you really think you would be in that clan forver?

No, thats not the problem. I will probably be in this clan forever, lol. The problem is is that no one will want to change thier name when recutied, so if your not in a clan, this will allow you to save your stats.

I'm hoping EA will include a mechanism to detect current clan tags, ie if it sees [LG] it will move this to the prefix slot.

yea cuz i left TAW and i was building my account with a friend form there when i left i got screwed over i really do hope they add this.
