what does anistrophic filtering do, in games such as HL2, and its mods (CSS & DoD:S), if its what i think it is, it makes the textures look better, but how, like what looks better, more detailed or what?

Re: Af?
It makes textures that are far away look much better. It doesnt effect textures that are close to you in any way. -

Re: Af?
You might see some image quality improvement on those games when you view objects at a distance (like looking down a road) but at the cost of performance the higher you go.Originally posted by mn9500so would i see a huge diff in quality or performance in CSS ir HL2.Comment

Re: Af?
The performance hit is only small on higher cards so you should always enable it.
I run all my games at 8xAFComment

Re: Af?
It clears up textures that are further away from you. Your card should be able to handle it, so go for it. In-game its called "Texture Filtering" just fyi.Comment
