    Re: aim? what aim?

wow, kozz, you must suck at aiming. i play the PKM constantly, and i always getr 30 plus kills per game with it. i have played almoast all fps games since medal of honer, and i dont see any differance in aim. cs has bad hit boxes too, and it is littered with haxxors, so i stick with bf2 and will never go back

the bullets arent on a cone spread like bf2 in cs at all.. it shoots where you aim, and when u spray the bullets actually pop up like in real life, there is actual gun recoil unlike bf2, you can spray any machine gun for as long as you want without having trouble controlling the gun.

I reinstalled CC First to Fight to go back and use that m4/203 again. It was as I remembered, accurate and smooth feeling. The 203 has a better splash, and will kill you if you fire it at a target that is too close. Oh my god, it shoots where I aim, and does high damage. Wow, just like it was in Soldner.

I have played most FPS games there are to play. BF2 has the worst rifles/bullet deviation system I have ever played. Very frustrating. I have stopped playing this game until the modders get done trying to make something a little more fun with this engine.

i thought counter strike course was pretty good, some shooting problems but graphics / sounds / physics wise... very impressive.

There's a reason I rarely get out of a chopper or ground vehicle: while I am quite skilled using the firearms, there's just a really bad feel to the aiming/recoil/registration of the shots. I've tried adapting and found that even with excellent knowledge of how, for example, any specific rifle works, there doesn't seem to be any consistency in how shots place... and I was skilled at CS (cal-im) and MOH. I strongly doubt that it is a question of adaptation at this point...

                      Re: aim? what aim?

Counterstrike uses client side hit prediction. What this means: on your screen, you see someone and hit them with bullets, and then your PC tells the game server to register it as hits.

This is different from all of the Battlefield games, which handle things on the server side. In Bf2 your bullets are going to be accounted for on the server, instead of having your PC tell the server that your shots connected.

And this is why hacking is so epidemic in Counterstrike, since the server relies on having your computer tell it "yep these shots are hits" instead of making the server the authority.

This is why everyone who comes to Battlefield games after playing Counterstrike has to adjust. In a sense, your bullets have a "flight time" corresponding to the bullets leaving your gun and going out over the Internet to the server.

All that being said, I have a much harder time hitting and killing targets in BF2 versus Counterstrike or Joint Ops, or 1942 even. All of the bf2 guns are just nerfed really. I am certainly much more lethal playing the Forgotten Hope mod on bf1942, where your standard rifles are one-shot-one-kill when you hit the torso, and no "cones". Battlefield 2 is definitely the most challenging game to score hits/kills that I have seen, by a long shot. But I think some mods will be coming out that will make the firearms more potent, as they should be IMO.

Ironsight is the most pointless feature in the game imho. I can hit enemys better with crossair on single. Seriously

                            Re: aim? what aim?

Like bjack stated above, the difference in aim between CS and Battlefield 2 is caused by bullet drop as well as bullet travel time, two characteristics of the engine in Battlefield 2 that are not in CS. Also I believe the movement of each player in Battlefield 2 and CS is a bit different (battlefield seeming a little clunky and slow at times and CS feeling smoother and more predictable).

I totally agree and I think therein lies the issue with aiming. I hate the aim in this game and I dont even play CS I came from the Tom Clancy's stuff.I think this game was intended to be used with just the crosshairs because when you mix the Random Deviation with the scope/ironsight it becomes totally useless sadly,I mean its natural to line up a target with the reticule(prone/Semi Auto) and expect a hit not to see the bullet hit the ground 3ft to the guys left/right/foot I see Kozz's point but it really has to with this games system of Random Deviation

Another member here posted a great little pic of this
