This beta driver is recommended for gamers who want full OpenAL™ support for their audio devices. Only the following audio devices are supported:

* Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
* Audio devices listed above only

Notes:

* THIS IS AN UNSUPPORTED BETA DRIVER. We recommend that only experienced users install this driver.
* Make sure you uninstall the existing drivers for the audio devices listed above.
* To uninstall the existing drivers:
1. Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. The Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box appears.
3. Click the Install/Uninstall tab.
4. Select the driver for your audio device and then click the Add/Remove button.
* Do not install this driver for the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy LS, Sound Blaster Audigy SE or Sound Blaster Audigy Value audio device.
* Some Creative applications such as Surround Mixer, THX Console, and Creative MediaSource™ may not work properly with this beta driver.

It worked. An Audigy 2. Last driver date was 8-8-05 this one is 8-29-05. All i need now is that EAX file.

The only thing I have noticed so far is that my creative apps like the Surround Mixer and the EAX Console don't work anymore.

I have to use the windows mixer and the August release of the Creative Audio Console.

Oh well.

EDIT: Fixed by not using Driver Cleaner during the driver upgrade process

Yeah, I have noticed that too.

I just hope performance is actually increased.

If they update the surround mixer and EAX console to be compatible, I'll post here.

Otherwise, using the windows mixer and the Creative Audio Console works just fine.

The last drivers i had i couldnt access an media source. With these drivers i can. I kept getting an media source exe failed to run error. I also changed the EAX in the sound.con file.

re: my creative apps no longer working:

It was because I used Driver Cleaner Pro to upgrade the drivers. Doing so removes tons of core files that are installed initially from the install disc that allow those little apps to work.

I re-installed from scratch using my original install disc and upgraded all the way up to yesterday's newest drivers, and everything works now

I just installed these drivers over the exsisting ones and it seems fine and sounds great ingame.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but these beta's are the same drivers as the WHQL set from Station Drivers last week. If you check the INF for both, they are the same,
