The DAO is definitely the best value unlock because it is so much better than the stock weapons for the AT class. I would put the G3 next, but only because I have no use for the noob tube. The G36c is a solid upgrade. Very similar to the M4 but significantly more accurate. The Jackhammer is similar to the MEC shotgun but does a little more damage. I like the pump-actions so this is only a small upgrade in my opinion. The PKM does serious damage, but has a much lower rate of fire than the stock weapons. Looks like a wash to me. The M95 and L85A1 are both downgrades.
Agree, DAO is a Squad killing weapon!
I've played with all of them!
DAO>G36c>G3>PKM>M95>JH>L85(BB)A1
Any player that is near a 1000 points get the DAO, you will flat out rule most ground kills in a round!
BF2, game play, forces you play with only the AT kit only!
I would not, and spend your unlock on your 2nd favorite one, because quite simply, the jackhammer blows. it's basically the mec gun, and it says it's full auto, but you can click the mec gun faster than the jackhammer shoots. on the other hand, the pump shotguns own, and are decent out to 30m. you could get the jackhammer if you like the mec gun more than the pumps, but that playing style would really be the only reason
Thats the mistake I made, I unlocked the G3(even though I hardly play assault) b/c everyone said it was good,(and it is) but I never use it b/c I don't use assault :-/
Can't deny that the G36 is a great gun. But when I'm MEC, lately I use the AK74U instead. Laser dots are just cool and it's more powerful than the M4, just remember it gets real inaccurate full auto.
My first unlock was the L85 and I regret getting it. I don't even use it anymore. The only way I rate it better is that the scope helps your long range view more than the ungodly M16 iron sights.
I would kinda like to get the PKM next, but the SAW or RPK74 aren't bad really. Might get the M95 just for the cockpit penetration.
I will usually only go Anti tank on MEC side, because the extra rounds in the Bizon are underrated. So I'm content there. Shotguns are OK I guess but I just don't use any of them much.

I agree. I now hate the L8. I loved it when I first got it, but since have grown sick of it. Its just too underpowered for good fighting.
1: G36C
2: G3 (close second, if not, a tie)
3: DAO-12
4: PKM
5: L85A1
6: MK3A1
7: M95
Pretty much in the order I should have unlocked them. I am only missing the DAO-12 out of my favorites after that in the list I pretty much dont care about.
Oddly enough I find the chinese AK-47 to be the best all round weapon, you will allmost never lose a gunfight at close or medium range with that.
I think I've played enough to be qualified to speak here....
Best unlock, second to none is the DAO-12. Huge upgrade over the SMGs. Overall best close combat weapon. This puts it at #1.
Second is the PKM, because it has accuracy and power far beyond what the ROF of the SAW and Chinese SAW-clone can make up for. The RPK-74 shades it slightly.
Third is the G36C. The M4 has the laser-sights, the AK-74 has better damage and the QZB-97 has better accuracy and ROF, but the G36C has the best recoil and is overall a nice package. Perhaps not worth the unlock though IMO because it doesn't offer too much alternative to the default weapons.
Fourth is the Jackhammer. Stepping outside the fact that the engineer kit is hindered by idiots ignoring mine warnings, The jackhammer is the most powerful damage-wise auto shotty, and right even in ability with the powerful but slow-pump actions, and the weaker damage but faster reloading Saiga12k.
Fifth is the G3. The smaller clip and questionable accuracy sometimes bring it down, along with no nade launcher (big negative for some), but It hits like a ton of bricks and I like hand grenades anyway. Better ironsights than the M16...but I can't say its the equal of the AK 101.
Sixth is the L85A1. It's function is pretty much inbetween an autosniper and an assualt rifle, but it doesn't dominate in either of those areas. I beleive it's let down as it has a very specific range in which it works well, but the other rifles outperform it all other times.
Seventh is the M95. I don't find the ability to penetrate armour and glass as good as improved accuracy in the M24 or faster firing rate of the autosnipers when I'm on either side.
How do you guys have the DAO at #1? Yes it is a great close combat weapon, but its just like the MEC's shotgun. Also, if you see someone with a g3, g36c, or any other kind of good long range weapon, your pretty much dead. The only thing you can do is either run away, or bunny hop your way to your death. You dont even get a pistol with that kit. It just doesnt make sence to me.
I avoid far away enemies - that's what my other squadmembers are here for. I focus on tanks, and on CQC. If I find myself alone against enemy troops I try to outflank them through buildings and alleys, and get as close to them as I can.

You haven't played the AT-Kit very often haven't you?
Because I can assure you that you get a pistol - a very effective one - given the fact that it is in the right hands :)
