    Distinguishable Warning Icons For Claymore/Mines/c4

While it's not a huge issue I do wish DICE could give us a distinguishable warning icon for mines/c4 and claymore mines. I would like to use claymores more often but there are too many times when a teammate walks into it probably thinking it was c4. If each of these had there own icon then maybe it can help your teammates out a bit.

Here is something else I wish DICE would consider when it comes to punishments from teammates when they walk into a claymore or if they run over a mine. I wish both of you would have an option to forgive or punish. If one of you chooses to punish then you both get -1 point or maybe even -2. If you both choose to forgive then you then you both don't lose anything.

I know it's not the best idea but I am so fustrated with the punishment and because of it I cannot enjoy using these 3 classesthey way I want to.

Let me know what you think and if you have some input feel free to post it.

    Peace,

This is a no-brainer - it seriously confuses me why they wouldnt have this in the first place.

Here's an idea - no icons. Just little words that say MINE, CLAYMORE, C4. You can even color code them (MINE is in blue, CLAYMORE is in red, C4 is in green) for easy, at-a-glance reading.

Another idea that I have, even though less realistic, is your teammates cannot be killed by any of the 3 items mentioned above period. Considering the gameplay is not focused or realism anyways I don't see this being a problem. Damn, at least have this as an option.

If you want that, just play a server with FF off?

Oddly, in single player, just with bots, if you lay an AT mine and a bot vehicle on your team drives over it, it doesn't blow up...but the enemy's bot driven vehicles will set it off, as will a vehicle with you driving it.

If you get close enough you can tell. Mines are quite a bit bigger than C4. But that means stopping which is never a good idea. So yeah colour coding would be good.

Color can't be the only indicator - especially since red/green colorblindness is pretty common amongst males. Dual coding, using color/words, color/size, color/icons, icons/words or similar is the best way to go.

DICE screwed it up all around with color and icon being the same for all explosives.

I used to play RTCW:ET and that has a really successful, yet easy to implement method of identifying mines. I'll try and find a pic later, but essentially, every mine that an engineer places would have a little flag that is incredibly obvious to spot, yet is only seen by the same team. However, the lieutenant of an opposing team can use his binoculars to scout out mines (they show up when he looks at an area in his binoculars), so that everyone on his team can then see them.

This works really well, and the only problem I can see about having this in BF2 is the different types of mine, but this could be addressed by having slightly different colour or size flags.

                    EDIT:

That's what they look like, although this person has gone a bit mental.

ET rocked, loved the AZLINUX.COM server, it had keep-stats on, always fun to leave and join back in as a Feldbewbble

Yeah, I loved that game. I remember thinking that mines were so coooool when I heard about ET. It's pretty neat tho that you can plant, defuse and spot mines.

                            How about the Koolaid Metal:
                            • 10,000 Global TK Punishes
                            • 25 TK punishes in a round from claymore/mines/C4
