I'm just wondering if anyone has tried these on their 9800XT or 9800Pro yet. At the moment I'm running the 5.6's on my 9800XT - everything later has given me the same graphics corruption problems everyone else seems to report.

What I'm interested in is any smoothness or frame rate boosts - otherwise I'm happy sticking with my 5.6's!
    Yep,
running fine on my 9800Pro. Can't really comment on the smoothness, doesn't seem noticably different to me, frame rate averages 35 with everything set to medium except dynamic shadows (low), 100% view distance and 2xAA, didn't check before the new drivers though so again not much help, but I can say ive had none of the graphical glitches I had under 5.8 so far, some of which made the game completely unplayable when they occurred (big black mess filling most of the screen etc).

Make sure you run their uninstall BEFORE installing the new drivers...this is the cause of many problems with ATI drivers...they don't install on top of one another very well...

Works great, same as 5.8 I think.

I turned on Catalyst AI, anyone know how that effects BF2?

The link to the uninstalling site tells me it should be used after unistalling the drivers, Where can I uninstall my drivers? I've looked in the Ati controll panel but can't find anythng there!

And (noob question) Will my system still start up after i uninstall the drivers if I re-boot? If so how don't the drivers tell the card what should be displayed?

I notice a nice visual upgrade, everything is more detail, the AA i think is a bit better, also the colors and texture seem more real and define, like now i can see the little adjusment marks on the weapons that you would use to adjust the sights, the stiching on the gloves stuff like that. Overall great drivers, 5.7 were the worst, 5.8 and 5.6 are both good, but this one, i think is alot better.

Go to ATI website & d/l the 5.9 drivers w/ control center. Then D/l the ATI uninstaller. Make sure to d/l the Driver Cleaner Pro also. Then Use the ATI uninstaller. Afterward, DO NOT restart computer. Then run the DC Pro. Click on ATI & let it remove all of them. After it is finished, Restart Computer. When it comes on, (Everything will probably be Huge lettering) ... Windows will say "Found New Hardware" Close out of that. DO NOT let windows update. Execute the 5.9 Drivers. Thats it!

                    Thank you for that!

I started doing it earlier but got worried when asked if i was sure i wanted to delete all ati files from my comp.

                    Seems simple thanks.

OK, thanks everyone for your feedback. I finally could be bothered last night to suspend play and try the driver upgrade on my 9800XT.

I went paranoid on the uninstall - used the Catalyst Uninstaller from ATI's website, then used Driver Cleaner.

Installed the (basic, no control centre) Catalyst 5.9's and played for several hours last night with no problems.

                        Thanks again!

Thats good to hear. My Mrs has a 9800pro and she just installed the 5.9's by using the Cat uninstaller but not driver cleaner and has also been playing for a few hours no probs so far, touch wood.

Ahhh the peace and quiet I have now!

I just traded a friend my Nvidia FX5900xt 128 for his ATI 9800PRO 256. He got it and after 1 day of try'n to get it to work on his NForce mobo decided it was the enemy (he has allways had a NVidia card). I'm use'n 5.9s & BF@ looks fantastis & able to play with Dynamic light & shadows on now other card would not. Got a boost with BF2 & BF1942 also run'n like a raped ape. BUT all my other games run like $%!# like Americas Army is borked & Lockon runs no better. I must admit I am ATI noob I've allways put NVidia in all the machines I built & all the optoins for this card have my head spin'n & I have much to learn.
