My clan uses TS and we usually have about 7 regular guests on TS playing in the same server as ourselves so we fill the squads between us . I do use VOIP to speak to the commander though and have used it now and again to speak to squad members but I agree that it's not used a lot but I have heard some good commanders use it effectively guiding squads to hidden enemy.

I barely ever use VOIP, even as Squad Leader or Commander. For one thing, my mike sucks. I've tried adjusting it countless times, but it still manages to screw up. Second, you're in the middle of a battlefield with adult soldiers, and have adult sounding voices on the radio. Then you hear the voice of some 13 year old kid through his static-infested mike screaming "Oh *$*#@!" and not really doing anything to help. Either that, or you get some idiot laughing at his own poor leadership.

It would work if people took it seriously. Most of the time, they don't however...

I dont use it because no one else use it, and the may not use it because no on else use it, that might be a good exlonation.

If I am in a squad and know the people have Voip, but aren't using it, I try to get them to start communicating. If just discussing tactics doesn't work, I say something to get them riled up and that does the trick. I also just keep talking even if they don't, atleast then if they want to work together, they have some suggestions.

almost nobody uses it because they use either teamspeak or ventrilo.

i use VOIP pretty often ( i play on one server so i know the peeps) and dont have any problems though i have a basic thrust gaming headset.

P.S that kid ****ed me off, if he would yell at me like that he wouldnt live for 2 more seconds, i cant stand when little brats dont show respect to their folks (im 17 and argue (sp) alot but never yelled like that)

hmm i think the quality is great compared to old games. It does lower the ambient sounds that sometimes you need, but as long as your working as a close nit squad, you should be covered at most angles from sneak attacks.

go for a Sennheiser pc160 or pc165 if you can afford it, over ear design so you dont feel pressure smashing your ears.

Great audiophile quality!

Less expensive is there PC150 series

If you every played over XboxLive you know why people don't want to use VOIP and purposefully turn it off.

I have Xbox Live and I hate that stuff. I was playing Rainbow Six: Lockdown and my squad was about to blow a door, we had everything set up and everyone was in position. Then all of sudden some kid joins the server and we hear him scream to his mom of something. While we're telling him to shut up and a 2 man team of Spec Ops from the other team comes around and knifes us all in the back.

When I normally join I create a squad called VOIP TMWRK or something along those lines. Then as the squad fills ill ask anyone if they have a mic (icebreaker), then Ill contine to say ok what are our tactics.

That normally gets it going pretty well. Because believe it or not there are some people out there who enjoy the teamwork side of the game and not just stat whoring.

its because of people like you (i only use ventrillo or team****) that noone uses VOIP. i have only heard 1 squeaky kid on bf2, and he was a hardcore gamer. VOIP is a great feature and you all must use it more. the quality does not suck
