u have a x800XT. not a GT. nvidia has a 6800GT.
and people called the pacth 1.3 when it was 1.03.

Hey, what resolution are you running right now? I've got almos identical system specs as you, and have the settign on med-high, view distance 100% 4xAA, 1024x768@85Hz.

I can't believe I'm still putting up with my Radeon X300SE. It is horrible, I've been playing on Low-Medium settings at 1024x768 since March (before the BF2 demo was even out.) Obviously without any AA or AF to speak of.

I was thinking about getting a 7800GT, but damn I don't know if I can drop $600 CND on a video card.

If you're saying you can play BF2 on High with 2XAA on a 6600GT, maybe I'll just pick one up. I mean, I don't see myself playing anything else in the next couple years, it should last me a while.

Any thoughts? What would be the best card to get for up to about $200 US?

6600 GT and high settings is possible. Its the ram that is the trick. Of course, if you can, try to get a stronger card for other games that are coming out.

Of course, I run a 6600GT @ 1280x1024 (forced from 1280x960), all medium settings except geometry @ high, dyamatic shadows off (big frame rate killer), 2xAA, 100% viewing distance. I could go higher, but I lowered it for the sake of maintaining 31+fps on 48 man servers (64, its ok, but I generally dont like 64 player servers).

I've got GF6600GT on AGP (AMD XP 2500+, 1GB RAM) and have everything on medium and 2xAA and have 50fps on average on 64 player maps. Gotta try the high settings.

No, there isnt.

Erm i was inder the impression that PCI-E is twice as fast (atm) as 8x AGP, hence pci-e cards running faster/better than their agp equivalents.

With the specs in my sig, I get 30 - 70 fps constant, on 64 player maps, with 2XAA, and ALL SETTINGS ON HIGH.

What resolution do you play?

I've got the same parts as you (except for the 6600GT that is) but I run the shadows at high too cos...why not? It's a shame you haven't heard of the X800GT Annihilator, it's a great card and very cheap compared to the bleeding edge range. PCI-E might be faster theoretically but there is no card on the market that even use the full capacity of 8x AGP. There should be no difference between 6600 AGP or PCI-E.
