Re: Adapting military strategies to BF2

the main advantages of the tank is that its hard as nails, has a great bunch of weapons and moves quite quickly

if youre waiting around for some infantry, you're gonna be sacrificing one of the main assets - its mobility on the battlefield

give me a tank/tank tank/apc engineer combo anyday over that infantry sugegstion

Sounds good but, as has already been pointed out, it's weak on Anti Air. A decent chopper crew would have a field day with this, especially in the Havoc as its chain gun is pretty much instant death for anyone on foot.

Back in the Demo release days majority of servers I went on had alot of teamwork it actually worked well then because the enemy was working as teams. But you can't really use tactics on a Public Server it's a free for fall

i agree...itll take real life to pull something off like that...or at least everyone using voip or soemthing like that cuz theres no pointing and the voice commands that bf2 has arent the best

Think the tactic would work, except you would eventually get problems when the other team realise thay can take out the tanks with rockets from 200 metres away (or indeed with helos).

            Snipers could be useful.

I think some tactics cans be used from real life, but the rules of engagement are very different in the game. I mean people dont sleep, or get tired, or injured, or eat etc etc. Resources are unlimmited. But I think small tactics like individual troop maneouvers (sp?) and large scale strategies like use of terrain and geographical assets can be used. I think its the 'medium' tactics in between that might not be applicable.

Some tactics from the world wars may be usable because they are relatively 'simple'.

It might be a good idea to look at individual maps...

Re: Adapting military strategies to BF2

maybe it works with well trained squads (as mentioned earlier) and in maps without airforce cause it takes only 1 attack heli to blow them away.. or a wel placed bomb strike from a jet.

I think this strategy is awesome, in fact I use with my buds just get TS or Vent and you can talk to them fine. It's an awesome strategy and you'd be surprised how many pts you can rack up, so before you start going and judging on ghow bad of a tactic it is, try it first! Oh yea this tactic is best used on Mashtuur and then Karkand =D

use a joystike throttle (primary), W S keys (secondary).

Re: Adapting military strategies to BF2

I would play it this way.

8 per squad, 16 per fire team. 32 vs 32 game (This might be difficult, but give hte game some time and you'll see matches like this)

                      Squad 1.

                      3 Engineer
                      2 AT
                      1 Support
                      1 Medic
                      1 Spec OP

You need 1 tank and 1 AA Linebacker, put an engineer in each. Have the rest of the infantry doing what DIV said, moving close to the tank, but not TOO close. The spec op attempts to sneak around ahead to attempt to take out the artillary and what not. The specop could also serve as the commander.

THen on the other squad you have

                      BH
                      1 Pilot
                      2 gunners

                      Attack helicopter
                      1 pilot
                      1 gunner

                      Bomber
                      1 pilot

                      Fighter jet
                      1 pilot
                      1 gunner

The BH takes care of the infantry, the attack heli goes ahead and spots and attempts to destroy any tanks.

The fighter jet takes on any jets, and the bomber well bombs the enemy flag. You have a commander in the infantry and he calls in artilary strikes when they are close to the flag, after the artilary strike everyone moves in and begins the cap. With that many units in the area you should be able to cap the flag and move on. The Attack heli should make a habit to routinly check back and assault any advances on the captured flag. the main weakness to this manuver would be artillary, but if the specops is doing its job, there shouldn't be a problem there. I believe that only an equally advanced tactic could counter this one, and this would obviously wreak havoc on the disorganized.
