there is no better mousepad the than the Steelpad S&S. you do not need to purchase terflon feet for the mx518 mouse, it already comes with them on it from logitech - read the box/manual.

That's the same one I have. It works great, but make sure you have plenty of desk space for it, because that thing is freaking MASSIVE.

I have a generic Optical mouse I got form wall mart for 20 bucks.
I sit in a video rocker and have my keyboard in my lap, my mouse pad is my rug under me. I never ever have any problems, only thing I cant do is fly a plane..think that deals with not having a joystick tho.

Interesting..I never really thought about the surface affecting my gameplay. I'm just using an old AllSOP pad..had it for years now. No glitches.

Without wanting to hijack this thread :), it seems like a good place to ask something about my mouse. I have an optical Microsoft mouse, and every now and then it sorta "spasms"; ie it'll aim at the sky or spin round a few times. Is this a general problem with optical mice, or is it because I don't actually use a mousemat?

I used to have exactly the same problem with my microsoft mouse. It seemed to get worse over time.

I now have an MX518 and I haven't had a problem since but I don't find it as smooth as I like. I guess I need to buy a mousemat and stop using peices of paper!

Are you talking about the Teflon tape?
Mine has lasted for 120 hours in BF2, plus 2 months of work (I use my PC at work, 8 hours a day) - plus about 50-100 hours in other games. And they're still not worn out!
You must've fitted them in a wrong way or something?

And what's this got to do with car tyres :s
