Um, have you even tried to install these (or the X-fi drivers for that matter). I have an Audigy ES (A1 without firewire), and have been running the X-Fi drivers since they came out.

Check what the device ID is for your card (Device Manager, find your card, select Porperties, Details tab, "Device instance ID"), and post it back here, and I'll check the .inf for you to see if it is listed.

To the OP, the driver version for these is DriverVer=08/29/2005, 5.12.10.1162. Haven't installed these yet (probably won't), but the question is; are these newer than the X-fi drivers, or the same ones (just with all references to X-fi removed)?

Everest Ultimate edition says i have this. I have a Audigy 2 Value installed not an LS. I tried those X-FI drivers and it says there is no audigy 2 installed on your system.

Need the device ID, not the type of card. While in Everest, go to Devices, then Windows devices. Find your card and there should be a listing for hardware ID that looks something like this,

            Field Value
            Hardware ID PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00521102&REV_03

That's what I need to see too be able to check the INF file in both the X-fi and the drivers posted in this thread.

The device ID for your card is listed in the INF for both the X-fi and the new Audigy drivers,

                A2 - Audigy 2 LS
                %Audigy2LS.DeviceDesc%=Audigy2LS_Device,PCI\VEN_11 02&DEV_0008&SUBSYS_10001102

                X-fi - ; Audigy 2 LS
                %Audigy2LS.DeviceDesc%=Audigy2LS_Device,PCI\VEN_11 02&DEV_0008&SUBSYS_10001102

And sorry to say, but from the device ID, it does look like you have the LS and not the A2 Value. Might want to pull the card and check the model number to be sure (located in the top right corner, and should look like SBXXXX (mine is SB0160)).

When you tried to install the X-fi drivers, did you try using the exe that you downloaded? If so, that won't work, you have to install manually through Device Manager. I know the instructions are posted here somewhere, but this will do as well,

edit: If you want to try the drivers posted in this thread, you should be able to install them using the downloaded exe without extracting anything.

Does your motherboard have, or were you using a Cirrus Logic based sound card? A quick Google search reveals it to be related to that. Based on that, it should be safe to delete (Recycle Bin to start with, then make sure everything works right be deleting completely).

That's all any of us can ask from new drivers.

As for that dll showing up on your desktop, who knows why it did, but it most likely means that there were some bits and pieces leftover from the onboard.
