Since HL2 runs fine on your system I doubt there are some other hardware problems. When you click the login button do you get the message "Connecting to account server?". If BF2 bails before you even get to that part then I would personally have reinstalled Windows and if that didn't work then maybe borrowed a network card. Did you install Windows when you got your new system? Or is it an older install from another pc?

I think someone else needs to come with some input. If I had this problem I would go through the BIOS settings, reinstall Windows, install all the drivers and then BF2. Did you use this Windows with older hardware and just move the harddrive?

maybe refreshrate to 1 in video con files

or your video drivers

any time i had prob I would update punkbuster or unistalll delete your cach file
reinstall patch update punkbuster

Tried what I could, no luck.

Is anyone know for sure 6800gt OCs work with Bf2? Does Bf2 crash because it dosn't know what that type of card is?

I have used BF2 with 2 different 6800 cards. A 6800GT and Ultra OC. No problems..

Uninstall bf2 then delete all folders with bf2 stuff in then clean registry and then reinstall

Tryed that about 9 times.... :cry:

What could be causing this? Is a stock OC'd card not supported?

Were you able to play fine with the 5950?
What type of monitor are you using?

When you changed the card did you uninstall the drivers, run driver cleaner, put new card in, install latest drivers?

Latest WHQL drivers are 78.01 although there are better betas avaliable.

The 5950 ultra worked till it computed its last render (fried). I'm using a 50" Samsung HDTV DLP monitor connected with a VGA cable. Could the monitor + the new card be the problem? The 5950 said it was a "Samsung DLP", the 6800GT says "plug n' play".

OK, I just tryed the DVI port on my card, and guess what? It worked.
Now, the DVI to HDMi on my TV is a bit odd (resoulution wise), so i used a VGA adapter on my cards DVI port. No go.

What is causing my PC to all of the sudden hate VGA connected monitors for bf2?
