Re: Need Help with RAM!!!Serious Problem!

AGP Aperture is set to 64(that wont help GFX wise) should be set to 128(BIOS setting)
RAM is Corsair Value but timings are not an issue(tho running it on 2T might be better for stability)
Its also reccomended not to use the Nforce2's IDE drivers(unstable) and use the Windows default IDE Drivers

its an HP machine as far as I can tell so it will be using a Propriety BIOS with unfortunatly VERY little adjustability

For a kick off that issue needs to be addressed the Mobo + Bios attributed to that MOBo is like fire to chocolate. Coms needs to be cleared (the battery thing) and Correct Bios needs to be installed I would Question Dells ability if I were him.
Get them to check it out under warranty if poss.
Sounds like most settings may be well fecked up.

I should also mention the game when not having hic cups, runs at 30-60FPS. It's mostly just random lag where my FPS thing says its going at 15FPS(but its really not) and just says that thoughout the short period of lag. Aniother thing is that sometimes theres just cconstant loading pauses even when nothing is happening on screen. And finally, EVERY time I turn around or theres alot of people on screen it changes the FPS to 15FPS and starts lagging for a couple of seconds. It's so damn annoying.

but how come the game worked fine with 512mB? WTF is that?

It runs worst on LOW with the gig then the 512mBs.

Ah Ha........ mix matching ram and bios settings you need to alter your Bios settings for the new RAM but this applies to you particularly as you "seem" to have "not" got a
                  "matched pair" of RAM sticks!
                  Please read for explanation..... http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29875

Then reinstall the game etc for it to utilise and recognise the ram corectly.

Wait, what do you mean by not getting the same pair have RAM? Thre both crosshair, there both 512MB, and all there specs are identical. I took out the 2 256MB sticks and just replaced it with the neew 2 512MB sticks. And I did re-install BF2 already.

But anyway, hopw would I alter my bios settings for the new ram. I'm not all that smart on computers so please explain well so i dont mess up my PC.

And thanks for all the help so far!

If you read his report they are matching sticks I dont think thats really the issue but I would agree with reninstalling and I would also look at your Page File. I personally use a static pagefile(not Windows Managed). But you really should increase your AGP aperture as this game needs all the texture memory it can get ,Even with 1 Gig of memory BF2 is still going to be utilizing your Page File this swapping between system memory and virtual memory is usually the cause of the hiccups. Your BIOS will see the extra RAM and it has so that not really an issue either as its showing up in your report with the timings correct and the proper amount

I am getting the same problem and I get 50-99 fps. bloody annoying loading pauses, dont matter what setting its on. I think its just the quality of the ram you put in your machine. I am going to run memtest on mine but I think I might upgrade to kingson hyper x ram.

I dont get why it runs worse on LOW settings than with my 512MBs of RAM. I increaSED THE PAGE file and everything but I still get the same damn problem.

Oh and how do I increase my AGP aperture size and how will i effect the stability of my PC?

AGP settings are in your BIOS generally under Advanced Chipset Properties. Also you should see if theres a Sideband Adressing option in there(it is currently disabled).A description below:

                            sideband addressing:
A feature of the Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) interface, sideband addressing provides additional channels for transmitting multiple data requests simultaneously between the graphics processor and RAM. This enables an average computer system to display 3D graphics much more quickly than it would otherwise be able to.

Increasing it no affect the stability of of your PC it just allocates more memory for Textures(which BF2 will use ALL of it....)

You need to go into your bios right down what you have there, for how to set your RAM, then go to http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=9 and compare notes, with what you have, with what is said in the link, then go back into bios and set and save.
                              Is that clear as mud?

If you look at his report there is nothing wrong with the RAM or its timings it is regeistering both 512 sticks and the timings are perfectly fine(2.5-3-3-7). I dont think his issue has anything to do with RAM. To me its seems more like a GFX issue and his lack of texture memory and his GFX card is getting choked
