There is no doubt travel time, but it doesnt play that much of a factor. Try sniping people yourself at + 400 meters, and trust me there is travel time, watch the normal speed video, its still there just very small. And dont go saying it was lag/bad connection because this was LAN with 0 ping.
I didnt say there was none. I said it wasnt that much.

          Re: M95: Bullet Drop

hmm, i dont think this "Physics" engine is very accurate...

This game does not calculate bullet drop or bullet travel very well...
I also saw a video of a guy, shooting someone in the head, from about 300M away...
The guy that got shot was SPRINTING... The crosshair was put DIRECTLY on the guys head... and it was a direct hit... Bullet travel ??? uhhh, no... Its called server lag...
400m = 1,312 feet... the amount of bullet drop in your video is totally inacurate...
Far too little... and Travel time does not exist... OR is totally inacurate...

In the video i was talking about, i saw about 10 headshots without ANY lead...
ALL direct hits from FAR FAR away... 200-300m all shots except 1 were running or sprinting... with NO LEAD... all 1 shot 1 kill...

I REPEAT, you have either server lag, or something like that...
There IS NO BULLET TRAVEL IN THIS GAME!!!

PS : if playing on LAN without ping... there is still lag...
The server must make millions of calculations per second... and your bullet hit, will lag a bit... 400m should create FAR FAR FAR more bullet travel then it does in your video... If your video is played at normal speed.... the travel time is about .1 seconds... maybe .2 at most... to travel 1,312 feet it take much longer then that...

If your bullet is traveling at 1,000 mph it takes 1 FULL SECOND to travel 1,312 feet... Your video shows about .1-.2 seconds ... SORRY!!! no bullet from a .50 will travel at 5,000 mph to travel that fast... Also remember, the bullet is slowing down at a VERY HIGH rate... 1 second of travel time would slow the bullet to about 600-700 mph if it comes out the barrel at 1,000... but i dotn know what the muzzle velocity is on that gun...

If you give me muzzle velocity of the round , i can calculate time to travel 1,312 feet for you... and you will see, THERE IS NO BULLET TRAVEL in this game... And if there is... ITS TOTALLY INNACURATE...

But hey, its a game... I enjoy seeing your videos...
          keep em comming

            Re: M95: Bullet Drop

Solar71 , you can try it yourself just create single player game with bots.
and try to shoot helo with MG and you'll notice you have to "lead" aiming to actually hit the target.
So there is bullet travel time.

                      Re: M95: Bullet Drop

My experience thus far is that there is no bullet drop. However, there is bullet deviation and bullet travel time (plus your ping determines how much you need to lead by).

The video from the OP really excited me at first. But after testing I've come to believe that what we are seeing in that video is deviation, not bullet drop. The m95 is simply inaccurate compared to the m24, and at very large ranges this inaccuracy is magnified. If the deviation of a particular shot is below the crosshairs, then at very large ranges it can appear that the bullet drops. But the deviation is inconsistent, so assuming there is bullet drop won't make you any more accurate.

That has been my experience thus far. Perhaps with time my views will change.

I agree with Clownstyle. The movie shows deviation and that shot deviates downward.

There is a travel time in this game for every single projectile or bullet. If you are not convinced then go to your game's files and open them. you will find that there is a speed for EACH bullet. there is a "time to live" for each bullet, which effectively means a maximum range. For the sniper rifles, the maximum distance is 1000m which means that anything you see can be hit with those sniper rifles, you just need to take the bullet drop into account.

If you do not know the game files I am talking about then I am talking about:
                            mods\bf2\Objects_server/Weapons/Handheld/USSNI_M95_Barret/USSNI_M95_Barret.tweak

this file shows litraly that the sniper's M95 has a 1000m/s speed. You can do the math yourself to get the time to hit for each target.
