I think it's fine. Drawing away the attention of the real goals in battlefield is cool. Players searching for an annoying sniper at their base makes them lose focus on flags. I've done it before with a friend and have drew arty strikes, circling helicopters and airstrikes...u can't deny that it benefits the team some way. I wouldn't call it point farming either since snipers barely get any points since they're just killing and not capping pts, resupplying teammates, reviving...etc etc...

It's fun annoying your enemy..to gain the psychological edge.

If you are then you must really despise characters like me who love finding ways of grounding you guys and delaying your strikes on my team.

Killing pilots out of aircraft is a perfectly valid tactic, same as C4ing them and letting the plane get half way down the runnway and blowing them. It is not "spawn camping" since the pilot has not just spawned and has made his way to a vehicle that he is going to use to do basically the same thing, rape bases. Anything you can do that is not cheap like actual spawn camping is just another tactic to win the round.

try to wait until the pilot gets just off the ground before blowing him up or blowing up the jet just as the pilot is about to jump in.

If I have the time, I wait till he is chasing one of our planes around. I would love to see the face of the guy that got blown out of the sky with C4

i have done this...and let me tell you, it was one of the more gratifying moments i've had in BF2.

i too have done the sniping tactic that the topic starter had talked about. but, i did it with a teammate. he went as support and we flew the su-34 out to the usmc airfield. we both parachuted onto the building by the airfield. i kept dropping claymores down onto the pathway below where usmc troops would spawn and he kept supplying me. that round, usmc got minimal air support, they wasted too much time trying to find and kill us, and china won the round.

so, how is that not supporting the team again?

I always give an enemy 2-3 seconds after they spawn before I part their hair. It is just enough time to line up my headshot with the M95.


Plus how many of us have spent entire rounds spawning just in time to be slaughtered by the Havock. No matter where I spawn it seems to find me some rounds. I say kill them before they get airborne and kill you. Not baseraping or spawn camping, just self defense!
