Being able to cap an entire map with only one other player on the other team having mangaged to spawn in is just stupid. Its funny the first time you do it, but the ability for a fast-loader to get in, grab a tank, race around the map and give their team a flag/ticket lead is just lame.

agreed - this is totally unfair to those that do not make it into the game

maybe it should be like a match
    "game starts on reset"
means does not start till all players have loaded into the map
however, this would then make it BAD for us that have lots of ram
we would ALL be waiting for 5 mins
(I have a 3rd system on my home LAN with only 512 ram - takes forever to load new maps)

It's the size of your monitor that matters really.

i am almost ALWAYS first on new maps...
But it seems like the servers i play on, have a 20-30 second timer...
so once you get in, you still have to wait for 20-30 seconds, so that other players can join...
Its not only how much ram, but how fast it is... also CPU speed and HD speed make a difference as well...
I have VERY FAST of everything...

But i still have to wait for others to join...
            hahaha

um, <cough>, maybe someone with a life, you know, who has some real life responsibilities, but would also like to play all the maps in a decent amount of time.

1 and 2 round per map servers are excellent, IMO.

                  perhaps
but in every new map I am in
I can play for about 30 seconds alone if I wanted
                  flying, capping, driving

I have 1.5mb of standard ram
                  3.2Ghz P4
                  SATA HD
                  no system tweaks

maybe is combination of all the above

It is amazing what a clean OS does for load times. I have a 2.6ghz with 2g ram - usually one of the first couple in on maps...even still - I prefer the servers that have the 20 sec start delay.

I hate the punk-ass lowbie noobs with no skill but fast rigs that get in even before I do - and they will take commander. Especially on servers that do not have voting enabled to get him out. Not that I want commander all the time - I just want someone capable in there. Not just someone that will sit there are absorb points and not do a damn thing for them.

I think only one dude in the other team had loaded into the server...

It sure is a quick way to get past imbalanced Mashtuur City and on to the next map.

Personally I would much rather wait until everyone was loaded up (everyone who had been there at the round flip, at least) than have a crap game because a couple people on one team load real fast and go around grabbing all sorts of flags (can be really bad in some like Stalemate, where you can go cap the enemy home base if you're in a lot earlier).

Even the delay doesn't do much because it seems that when someone loads in fast, it isn't 10 seconds or so before the 'average' group start spawning in, its more like a minute.

I have 2 Gigs of Ram, Striped serial ATA RAID config, and I always load on first.
On Mastuur I captured the tank flag, and headed to USMC main base before anyone else spawned. It was a lame game, I didn't enjoy it at all. In fact, I barely play that map for sometimes now.... it's utterly unbalanced in the favor of US team.
