Great post. :) The HUD for the pilot should really have had a rectangle like that, showing what the gunner sees in his cam. Good tip for any mods out there with similar choppers planned.

Maybe set the overlay as a subset to the image, as opposed to setting it in the middle where it obstructs the view might work too.

That is what I did. That is the reason the landmarks in the black and white area ...are black and white. I lined up the objects in the TV view with the objects in the pilot view - that way I knew the 2 would be the right size when overlapped.

That is also why I took the screenshots aimed at an object.

      Try it for yourself.

The black and white TV is on top of the color pilot view - the opacity is there so that I could line them up correctly with the correct proportions.

The main goal of this little experiment was to show the pilots exactly what the gunner could see when in TV mode. I am not sure how else you could show it any better.

You'll have to forgive Forky, normally he's pretty quick. He must of been REAL tired when he read the post.

It's pretty straight forward to me. The gunner sees whatever is in side the hud, plus a bit. Look if he's looking left or right and line it up.

Personally, I always thought the view was slightly lower than my hud so I would try to bring the nose up.

Thanks....beer...I guess we owe you a beer.

ok so the guided missile cam is down and to the right of the center crosshairs? the hell kinda crap is that...I could understand if the view was straight down below the crosshairs but the way it is now that's just kinda weird, oh well, thanks for clarifying that beerstein

I wish when you were the pilot a recticle or target box would pop up when your gunner switches to the guided missile view so you could know to hold her steady for the missile shot
