Does the weight make that much of a difference as i don't know if i prefer heavier or lighter mouse. I use a really old superlight mouse weighing in at 94g. The MX518 is 110g or round about and the MX1000 is a staggering 175g. Almost double of what i have now!

I don't have an MX1000, but I do have a Logitech wireless, optical mouse, and I've never had a problem with "wireless lag." I've never noticed a difference between wired and wireless.

I own the MX1000 Love the thing to death... ive had it off the charger for about 3 days and its only drop one power bar. This lag that everyone talks about, never had a problem with it, except when i had a bunch of empty Dr. Pepper cans between my mouse and the charger/antenna... other than that i have no trouble what so ever.....

Got an mx518 and absolutely love it. I especially like being able to change my DPI on the fly. Nothing better than going from 1200 to 400 when sniping.

The MX1000 is a very good mouse i have one and it has never given me any problems when i play BF2 or other sorts of games.

Im just gonna go with the G5 corded mouse. I have just never dug wireless for some reason. I've never had any problems with them but just like corded better....psycholigical thing I think.

MX518 is on sale right now too - you can find it online shipped for under $35 now. I just got mine last night - bought local for $44 - too impatient to wait for shipping.

I also had a wireless mouse - and I cringe at the thought of ever losing battery power at the wrong time again.

The MX1000 was about $30 more than the 518 on average from what I saw - with the same features.

The MX1000 uses same lense as MX510. No laser changes the fact that a MX1000 can only run at 125Hz = 8ms sample rate, and thus isn't better than any optical, in fact worse because it can't be tweaked to higher sample rates.

The only thing that has improved responiveness and handling of mice lately, was when the tweak for USB Sample Rate was released by RaZieL. This was done by hex-editing the usbport.sys file, there are several tools on the Inet that does it for you now.

This meant that mice instead of running 125Hz=8ms, would run 250, 500 or even 1000Hz = sample rate of 4, 2 and 1ms. However this worked only on wired mice, and not on wireless like MX1000, they still run 125Hz no matter what. It is overhyped, and just another mouse with new coating, nothing new under the sun.

The new G7 will run at 500Hz as will the wired G5. Here Razer have them beat, as their new mouse Razer Copperhead will run at 1000Hz. The current Razer mouse, the Diamondback, is capable of this too, if you use the sample rate fix (mostly 750 on average mostly). The new 2000DPI mice from Logitech and Razer will be laser, instead of optical.

The MX-1000 Laser is the best mouse I've owned, and I've had a few laggy wireless mice in my time. No lag, power lasts days and quite precise enough for games. Go buy it.

Corded > Wireless. The technology still isn't good enough yet. I bought an MX-510 last year and it's the most awesome mouse I've ever used.

I'm using the Razer Diamondback... I might pickup the Razer Copperhead when it comes out shortly.

The MX1000 is way too heavy, and the G7 just doesn't look like my type of mouse, just from looking at the chassis design they chose.

I've had an MX-1000 for 'a few months', and so far I like it...
- I don't notice the weight, it certainly doesn't seem too heavy (I hardly ever pick it up, it moves about 2 inches, so why would I care?). [I've also got fairly big hands and the 'tiny mice' really wind me up...]
- my corded mice have an annoying habit of getting the cable trapped behind the desk .
- the batteries last 'a few days' between recharges even when used 10+ hours a day...
- it's accurate enough.
- it doesn't seem to matter what you use as a mouse pad, it never seems to jump.
- it's easy to clean.

AFAIK the only potential problem is that the rechargeable batteries are part of the mouse - it looks like you can't replace them .
