ALL MX1000 Owners!

I have just got some cash today and have talked myself into the MX1000 over the MX518. I have still been reading reviews and im still a bit worried. People are complaining about lag still.

Does the MX1000 have "wireless lag"? I want to hear from the people who have them and play fast FPS like CS and BF2 like myself. Will I be dissapointed because alot of people who call themselves "hardcore gamers" are compaining alot.

Reviewers love em' or hate em', no in between, what is the truth about them?

I have one and it's given me no problems related to it specifically (once it would keep skipping around the screen and activating all the buttons by itself, but that was because the cord was loose :hmm: ). I like it cuz it has 10 different "buttons" (left/right click, fwd/back on left side, application switch btwn the fwd/back, up/down scroll buttons, mouse wheel can be pushed left, right, and down, and scroll up and down). Whew

EDIT: oops it only has 8 + scroll, the mouse wheel going left/right can't be programmed, it's for scrolling left/right

I have MX1000 and it works just fine :) I've had it for ½ year now, and the pads under the mouse are rubbing out. I have buy some teflon tape...

I have MX518 and it's absolutely fantastic. Remember that cordless stuff is heavier (batteries).

If you insist on getting a wireless , why not wait a short while until the Logitech G7 comes out:

I upgraded from the MS IntelliMouse Explorer 1.0 to the MX1000 and am amazed at the difference.

I do not experience any lag, at least nothing I would be able to discern.

I certainly recommend it, but I certainly rec'd visiting http://www.logigamer.com and the forums at http://www.logigamer.com/forums to get the most out of your new mouse if you get one.

You can assign these, in the setpoint just assign it to a letter or number on the keyboard, then in game move the wheel, and it will treat it as if you are pressing the button mapped to it.

Its a brillant mouse, and i have no trouble with lag. or no noticeable lag.

But if you want each application to have it's own set of button assignments instead of having to globally assign your buttons, do the following:

Edit the following file:
C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\Devices\PointingDevice\100 0040\1000040.xml

and change this:

<Device DisplayName="MX 1000 Laser Mouse" Class="PointingDevice" Model="16777280" NumberOfButtons="10"

to this:

<Device DisplayName="MX 1000 Laser Mouse" Class="PointingDevice" Model="16777280" NumberOfButtons="10" AppTier="2">

Note, this ONLY works with the latest SetPoint drivers. (2.40 or 2.41)

Great mouse, never had any issues, playing for 10 hours only takes it down 1 bar of power

I have both the MX1000 and a MX518...on my work PC I use the 1000 and for gaming I use a 518.


The 1000 does lag sometimes and its heavier, I suggest getting a MX518

I do not own a MX1000, myself but i still would like to make a comment in this thread.

Personally i will await buying a cordless mouse until i hear no rumours what so ever about mouselag. Many years ago i had a wonderful Logitech (probably first generation) which worked almost perfect, except it lagged (fastclicks with mb at the same time as moving caused lag) some in games as CS or Day of Defeat etc. Many years later my gf bought one of those hightech cordless keyboard+mouse sets (once again logitech), but this was even worse than the last one. Both keyboard and mouse was lagging badly (aka. crazy 360 mousespins, delayed movements etc.) and you had to switch batteries constantly.

Nowadays i've got myself a nice Mx510, which might be considered old now but i don't care. It's a brilliant mouse and i won't exchange it until it's either broken or when i hear brilliant reviews about some cordless supermouse.

As far as lag is concerned...is there some method to actually test mouse lag?

I ask because I have experienced no lag whatsoever with this mouse. I do KNOW what mouse lag feels like because of other, older wireless mice I have used.

This mouse, and correct me if I'm wrong, uses completely different wireless technology than other wireless mice used to. It uses RF (radio frequency).

I saw it at Circuit City but I'm sure Best Buy and the like have the rebate with it too.

I've had mine for close to a year, and have had no gaming problems. When they first came out there was a driver problem, but it's been fixed for quite awhile. I play CS and BF2 and many others with no lag. I didn't look at the specs on the new G7 but I saw those bigger pads on the bottom, and you might want to wait and get that. My pads are definately wearing down.
