yeah they should have like a certain one hit spot like at the rotors with any gun...(reminiscing about the movie SWAT when the guy takes down the heli with a sniper rifle)

not to mention it's easier to team damage than enemy damage, and reload time of flares are faster than missiles.

Providing the squad in it are thick/inept, this is true.

STINGERS-THe stingers are great for taking down BHs. You may say they are inaccurate, and all that means to me is don't waste your shots. Get a solid lock on the bird, wait for it to deploy its flares, then fire both missles ASAP.
The problem I have discovered is that a good blackhawk will only drops flares when you actually fire a stinger at it. You then need to wait 'forever' for the flares to clear the blackhawk, then you can fire the 2nd stinger - assuming every one of the '2nd stingers' hits, your rate of damage is way below the repair rate of the chopper.

This should if nto take it out take out the engies/gunners.
As a 'frequent' user of stinger/IGLA positions I can't remember ever seeing a stinger kill the occupants of an aircraft... as far as I know they do zero/minimal damage to people.

MOUNTED GUNS-These are the best ABH guns there are. Just park them in a new or intersting part, and tear up the BH. Aim for the engies in the open doors first, because you if you shoot out the engies and weaken it up, it WILL get the hell out of ther and goto ressuply.
True, but also true that if you can see the open doors, then the minigunner can see you. The problems being [a] his gun is better than yours [b] you have no protection, whereas he is nearly impossible to hit, and due to height advantage, he's likely to be getting heeadshots [c] he can blow the jeep up far faster than you can damage the blackhawk [d] who cares, you should be dead. That this tactic often works is more a statement about the quality of average blackhawk crews than anything else...

ERYX- These are another great tool for taking down a BH. Hit it anywhere and it takes down about a third of its health. Hit it in the cockpit, you can get up to 6 kills. These coupled with .50s are probaly the best defensive plan if you can get some decent teamwork response. One rocket hit+3 seconds of vodnik=6 people going to spawn at the helopad.
There are 2 common counters to this.
[a] circle the area in question in the blackhawk at extreme height, letting the miniguner chew the hell out of anyone unlucky enough to be there. It is 'nearly impossible' to hit such a blackhawk, and most people will not continue to respawn.
[b] kill all vodniks/jeeps before you approach the target.

C4- The hands down easiest way to take out a BH. Just throw c4 on the flagpole and hide. WHen you see the Bh get close, right click then left click. You dont even have to be around the flag, you can just look when it turns white and tigger it. 6 kills for 0 work.
                2 problems with this:
[a] C4 on the flagpole does not have an adequate blast radius to catch a blackhawk at the 'top of the capture zone'.
[b] If the flag turns white, haven't you just lost the flag???

It really depends how badly the blackhawk crews sucks as to how you take it down... in some cases it just doesn't happen (particularly Mashtuur city).

To be honest this is what I expect EA/DICE will do to "fix" the Blackhawk, maybe even increase the overheating on the guns slightly aswell.

If you hit the rear rotor, you should spin out and eventually crash into the ground...but not blow up. Then it could at least give you a chance to get out and everybody wins.

Just lower its armor, 2 rockets and bye bye heli

One to rotor and it starts to spin with no real control

one to bottom and its gone (on fire so they can jump)

Making blackhawks even weaker is gay. They are easy enough to take down anyways.

Re: Forget about Transport heli fix

I think the main problem with the Blackhawk is that it's supposed to be a transport chopper. It's intended role in-game is to drop troops behind enemy lines, pickup troops that need transport, etc. As it is, a blackhawk is often as not a dominating force on the battlefield. Those miniguns tear apart anything in their general direction, and get a few engineers in the back and it's all but unstoppable short of ramming it with something.

It's not being used in its intended role; rather, it's being used as an assault helicopter. The whole idea of capturing flags from the air is rediculous not only for realism sake (which BF2 doesn't seem to accomodate at all anyway, but that's the way it's meant to be) but for gameplay sake. That blackhawk can capture several flags before your squad can get back to the first one to recapture it. Utterly rediculous.

It is true that in order for the Blackhawk to be effective it needs a full complement of troops. Thus the argument arises that it shouldtake another squad to take it down. But the Blackhawk happens to be the only vehicle in the game that is able to dominate the battlefield like this. It increases a full squad's effectiveness several times, and the fact is that Blackhawk 'whoring' takes very little skill. At the moment, it is very possible and indeed very effective for a squad to load up on anti-tanks and simply immolate that Blackhawk every time it show's its face. But while the Blackhawk is a force multiplyer, having a squad of anti-tank troops merely screws up the balance of kits - not to mention that said squad must be always on the alert for the Blackhawk since it spawns about 20 seconds after it dies, thus taking attention away from the larger battle.

So we have a vehicle here that is found on only one team. It absolutely dominates unless a concerted effort is made to take it down. Another argument is to make the other teams' 'transport' helicopters equal to the blackhawk. But seriously, think about it. Do we really want two Blackhawks on opposite teams playing ring-around-the-rosie with control points?

I yearn for the days of DesertCombat, in which game there was actually a front line - tanks would converge in the field attempting to capture a single key control point out of three or four. It was hectic, the tanks going at it accompanied by focused air support. That was fun.

In BF2 we have many more control points. This makes the effort of protecting all flanks much more important - but with vehicles like the Blackhawk, which can hop from control point to control point within seconds, it's a constant power struggle. There is simply no point in defending, as in order to defend you need a relatively large number of troops - and if those troops are stuck defending, meanwhile the enemy is capturing control points and steadily bleeding your tickets away. So, do we really want a Blackhawk on each team?

Here's my opinion. Make the transport choppers into transport choppers; take the goddamned guns off, or at least give them those .50cal machine guns which can't seem to kill anything anyway. Make them able to heal and resupply troops in and around the vehicle. Give them a few more flares, but take away the ability for them to be repaired in-flight - no other vehicle (other than the RIBs and humvees) can be repaired while inside it, so why the transort helicopters? (And make the AA missiles a little more effective, but thats a whole different argument).

This will force the transports to be used as transports and not all-powerful weapons of mass destruction. Dropping troops covertly behind enemy lines, extracting troops under fire - this is what they're meant to do; not clear an enemy-held outpost single-handedly, hover a few feet over the flag (where it is somehow raised by a giant magnet inside the helicopter, or perhaps a trained monkey armed with top-secret optical camoflage hanging from the undercarriage) and fly happily away to repeat the process at another control point - meanwhile taking two stingers, a tank shell, an anti-tank rocket, and a hammering from an APC, only to be repaired by it's revolutionary nano repair droids (what, you think those engineers climb onto the roof in-flight to repair that main rotor with their magical wrenches?)

                          Just my opinion.
