I've been on both sides of a BH whorefest, and I must say that since it takes an organised team to make it work right, then it should take an equally organised team to take it down. I think the #1 beef about the BH is that it is multitudes better than the skycows that the MEC and PLA get. If both sides were to have BHes, 95% of all griping would stop instantaneously. And I must say I agree with that griping. The only thing the BH has over the skycows is the miniguns (and a bit of manoeuverability). Those .50 cals that the other transport helis lack the ROF that the miniguns have, and the splash damage. For the BH, if you were to take away the splash damage and keep in the shoddy hit detection that the game engine has, it probably wouldn't be any better off than the other helis. But the fact that killing one single infantry with the .50 cal is more difficult than killing an APC (nevermind the fact that the .50 cals can't kill APCs) with the BH makes the heli more of a transport than a killing machine, which I think is fine. It's the lack of balance that puts people off from the BH, and it's understandable.
How many people have said, "DAMN Z-8 WHORES!!!", or how many of you have had anti-Z-8 squads set up? Probably not many, because one APC or linebacker would eat one for breakfast as it has virtually no way to defend itself against those. The BH, on the other hand, simply has to pivot to the side a bit so the gunner can tear the vehicle to shreds.
Now, my big gripe, and this goes not only to the BH but to all choppers in the game (attack helis included) - make them a ONE-HIT KILL with a 120mm tank round! I mean, if you think about it, it's not all that easy to hit a heli with a tank round, as the heli has to be low enough for it to reach, and if a heli's THAT low it's gonna get what it deserves. But how many times have you seen an attack heli hovering near your tank, blasted away at the cockpit only to make it start smoking, then have it finish you off with a volley of rockets? I agree that helis should be able to take out tanks without too many problems, but if a heli gets low enough to be within striking distance of a tank, it should be prepared to get blown into a million pieces because of it.
I don't see how a wheel is such a weak point! A helicopter CAN land without it's wheels.
I've shot a rocket in the side and hit the inside of it... nobody died on a full helicopter...other than the roof that should have been blown off. It only took some damage...
A tank shell should blow the helicopter to hell with 1 shot. It SHOULD shoot through the window as well if the shot is straight on.
WOW! Everone is still complaining about the BH. I whroe it up WHENEVER I can( I dont tk to get in though) and I feel its perfectly balanced. There is plenty of ways littered around the map to take it down.
STINGERS-THe stingers are great for taking down BHs. You may say they are inaccurate, and all that means to me is don't waste your shots. Get a solid lock on the bird, wait for it to deploy its flares, then fire both missles ASAP. This should if nto take it out take out the engies/gunners.
MOUNTED GUNS-These are the best ABH guns there are. Just park them in a new or intersting part, and tear up the BH. Aim for the engies in the open doors first, because you if you shoot out the engies and weaken it up, it WILL get the hell out of ther and goto ressuply.
ERYX- These are another great tool for taking down a BH. Hit it anywhere and it takes down about a third of its health. Hit it in the cockpit, you can get up to 6 kills. These coupled with .50s are probaly the best defensive plan if you can get some decent teamwork response. One rocket hit+3 seconds of vodnik=6 people going to spawn at the helopad.
C4- The hands down easiest way to take out a BH. Just throw c4 on the flagpole and hide. WHen you see the Bh get close, right click then left click. You dont even have to be around the flag, you can just look when it turns white and tigger it. 6 kills for 0 work.
M95-The hardest way to take a bh down(but the funnest by far) is the pilot snipe. The problem with taking a pilot out is the rifle is so damn inaccurate. When yo do hit him, the BH does one of two things which will influence how many kills you get. Ive had the BH drop straight to the ground giving m 5 more kills, and Ive also had the bh just go higher and higher spinning into the air allowign time for someone else to fly it.
These are all reasons of why the BH is not overpowered, because without a good pilot....you are toast.
Stop posting about the black hawk whoring and just do something and take it out, if you want the capping with black hawks to stop then just take something and shoot at it.
