The Squad that stays together, slays together.

If you have started a squad, or find yourself leading a squad, you need to alter your playstyle. Here are a few suggestions.

    1) No more hopping into jets, you are denying your team a respawn and failing to lead.

    2) Call a target, use CAPSLOCK to bring up your order map, you DONT need to be the commander for this.

    3) Think about your class. Support is the best class for a squad leader IMHO.

    4) Lead from the rear. Seriously, let your teammates lead the advance and try and keep yourself alive, you are a rolling spawn point. Your death serves only the enemy.

In the perfect world this would work, but your squad are some guys you have never heard off, and they won't always do what you say or do what you wanted them to do.
The great sauqd feeling, I get it most of the time when we are entering a point with 4 guys or something, sneak a bit further, and then GO GO GO and they all start to rush the flag.

There are so many tactics, things you can do etc.... as a squad or squad leader you ain't going to reveal it in 4 litle points

Yeah, but the more we can pound this stuff into peoples heads, the better. In my experience, some people just DON'T understand how squads work.

Oh, and the thing about leading from behind, here's a tactic I use- I am usually a support guy. If we're working on taking out a flag, I will climb up onto a nearby roof and spray the hell out of a target and nade spam as my team tries to take it. If they die, they spawn up on the roof, and can jump down and immediately start attacking again. I never put myself in the fray as a squad leader if we're trying to take an objective, its just dumb.

Well I just played in the Desert Rats server till my PC crashed but I had a squad open called VOIP used most of these tips, apart from I changed from Anti-Tank and Support, and commanded from the back, it might have been luck but I had a few members using VOIP and being tactical and importantly, succesful!

I think medic is one of the best kit that fits squad leader. If you die, any squad member around(and still alive)can always pick your kit and revive you.

If you use the ATTACK HERE option (T - left click if you can see the target) along with GO GO GO, they should get the message.

Re: The Squad that stays together, slays together.

Too bad being a lone wolf works well pointwise on most servers, because theres enough of other lone wolves to shoot. Only when run into a well organized 4-man squad you start to wish you had joined a squad who could back u up in those kind of situations.

The doom of real teamwork is when the ppl in the squad start to run after the kills. After you have strayed over 20 meters from the rest of your squad, you start to see the entire situation so differently compared to the rest of your squad (u see enemies they don't, and u wanna go after them) that u get tempted to pursue your own goals instead of the squad's goals.

This gets even worse if you use alot of vehicles, because then u can stray from the squad that much faster.

I usually play with a bunch of friends and they always make me the squad leader. That's ok for me. But epecially one of the guys always gets into some vehicle, drives to the nearest group of enemies regardless of my orders and worst of all he starts to call for reinforcements and goes "i'd really need some help guys. theres alot of enemies here" on the VOIP :P

Well he usually ends up with the least points of us :)

But then there's a real gem in my squad too. A medic called "larsan" who seems to always stay within 20m from me and follows even if my orders weren't the best possible. He's also the kind of medic who doesn't just go for the revive score like maniac, but kills the enemies nerby before reviving.

Same, except I use the Move order too, to get my squad to advance where I want them to, whilst covering them, then following them and giving another order, Move or attack etc. etc. and also the Go, Go, Go thing too.

Disagree. I can lead a squad as a medic and revive my team and kill on the way to target. If we need ammo call for supplies.

Otherwise that's about right. I will normally call out attack points and lead there. I'm not the type of guy to send my troops in first. Sometimes I might stay back a bit but I am usually good enough to kill the enemy in my way. There's usually always a medic with me anyways.

I don't see much squad action going on besides when my clan mates get on or one of them or myself lead a squad. Random pubbers just join a squad and follow or just do their own thing.

what he said. Not to mention players joining your squad for 10 seconds then leaving. If you just spent time requesting him to attack a certain base.. you just wasited your time on him when you could have been doing other stuff to players who want to play as a team
