      Re: Sniping.

There is bullet travel time hence leading your target, your target effectively runs into the bullet. If you hold your crosshair over the target while he's moving and shoot, the bullet ends up about a foot behind him...

I find hiding out in the wilderness or broken down buildings in the distance are the best places to hide. Noone really looks there.

And People who complain about nipers not getting enough kills really **** me off. Us snipers have saved your asses without you even knowing it, taking out potential threats and advancing forces, ^_^ snipers rule ^_^

1 of the techniques i use is taking out people from rank down, if you see 3 people defending a flag, find out which 1 is the highest rank and take him out first, be more of an assasin. then the other 2 less experienced members will either freak out or search endlessly with ironsited M4's.

When you see a squad usually they will walk in lines only being able to see people walking in front of them. Take out the man at the back, always. Try getting a headshot to stop the man panicking and alerting his teamates. They might hear the shot but not think much of it, whatever you do...dont miss because the dust flying up from the missed bulllet will attract attention.

If you see a APC or any type of enemy armour spot them and tell your team. This could stop ambushes and rapid fire .50 cal death raining on your team without knowing whats hit them. You are their eyes and generally do your job better than any commander. dont listen when random noobs tell you to stop spotting because its very helpful.

Relocating is very important but only do it after things have got a bit heated up. Dont relocate after 5 shots, try after 10 kills because then people will start hunting.

Snipers are hugley disrespected in my opinion, were your backup forces. We take out their medics and anti tanks so they cant walk along and heal revive your kills and blow up your tanks. when people say snipers are useless in the middle of a match i will swap teams, find a spot, and i will hunt him, i will gladly remove his head from 300 metres and laugh in his face for being owned!!!!

And a last tip (because i think i have wrote to much) use your mics if you have them. its better to say to your team 'ok lads give me 30 sec before you attack the base so i can take out there medics and anti tanks. Kill them, your team run in to cap the flag without the irratance of medics and rocket launchers.

      ^_^

        Re: Sniping.

I'd like to introduce a new tactic concerning the use of the sniperclass:

As far as I've seen, snipers have been lying around on some sniping spots, taking out enemy troops, that came into their sight. This is a quite good tactic if you are defending a flag, but if your team advances to cap another one, your position will very likely be useless and you won't be able to support your team anymore. With this problem on my mind, I started to develop a new tactic, which I'd like to present here:

Instead of lying at a certain location, the sniper will advance together with a squad. Just follow your squad in a distance of about 50 m and keep out of sight as good as possible. Always ensure, that you have a good view on the way your squad is advancing on. If the squad faces enemies, go prone at once and start to pick out the greatest threat, such as Medics and AT-Soldiers or even gunners of vehicle mounted guns. It is absolutely crucial, that you use either the M 95, or one of the semiautomatic sniperguns, if the M 95 hasn't been unlocked yet, because the M 95 deals a huge amount of damage, so your teammates only need one more shot to take the enemy out. On the other hand, the autosnipers are fast enough, to shoot 2 or 3 shots with high accuracy within one or two seconds.

If you follow these instructions above, you really support your squad and make it a lot easier for them, to take out enemy positions. You could even act as squadleader, since your position is a bit distant from the front fighting, just as it is supposed to be, when acting as a squadleader.

Well, that's all, I am really looking forward to reading your comments and hope you try this tactic out. And pleasy excuse my bad english, but I'm from Germany.

Not bad idea Div, i might have a go sometime ^_^
Snipers are loners but i think they still need to work with their team IMO

I like sniping from blackhawks, it is really hard to do with a ****ty pilot, but it looks damn good head shotting someone from 200m in a helo

                    Re: Sniping.

appreciate all the tips and pointers on sniping. I have tried many of them and they work. I also have found that picking a low spot...sometimes even next to a drive path I hardly get noticed. I have had tanks and armored vehicles go right by me without seeing me and I have gotten many kills this way. The trick is to position yourself between two flags. At the Dam that is very possible.

                    Some thoughts:

Snipers ought to get more points if they pick off another sniper. Reason is they have saved the lives of countless friendlies by picking him off. Regular players should get more points for killing a sniper for the same reason. Kills by helicopters and tanks should receive less points per kill simply because of the protection they have. I have seen helicopters rule an entire map because the pilot was so effective. Since a normal soldier can barely take them out....the points should be based on the difficulty of the kill. If a soldier with a anti-tank weapon takes out a helicopter or another tank...he should receive more points as well. Also currently there are no points for taking out the enemies UAV, radar or artillary. This is absurd. I have played on maps where all I did was keep these items destroyed and my team one...only to hear the commander give himself credit for the victory....welllll....DUH.....if the opponet can not see or can not fire his artillary.....who do you think is going to win????????? ....and if a soldier spent the whole time keeping them out of action.....then the point system should reflect this. One other item.....I have died as many as 20 times on particular maps......and all I did was keep going to where the artillary and radar and UAV were.....I know the tanks and helicopters were calling me a dumb idiot because they were spending all their time trying to keep me away from the items described....but guess what....by focussing on me ...the planes helicopters and tanks were not focusing on flags or killing my team for taking them over.....each time I have done this my team has won ....Again the point ystem should reflect what is being done by a soldier to win the game. I think it is funny as hell when they focus on me and their team is losing.

Just some thoughts....appreciate the opportunity to post!

                      Re: Sniping.

my main tip would be take your time, pick your shot and settle then fire. You need to let the sights settle after you move the scope. A mistake i often make is i see a number of targets all at once and i snatch at my shots trying to hit as many as i can and end up missing everything:cry: Also if you are sniping a squad try and work out who the squadleader is and make him/her the top priority to stop the others from respawning at that point....assuming they are on the offensive when you see them.

Yeah thats annoying, especially when you have a 5 second shot, so you dive to the floor, get a perfect shot and you shoot. The bullet flies away in a stupidly off direction

Also if you are sniping a squad try and work out who the squadleader is and make him/her the top priority to stop the others from respawning at that point
Yep thats my rule number 1, take out medics and squadleaders, whe nthey lose thier squadleader some medic prick revives him

                          Re: Sniping.

One of the tricks that I use to annoy the other team is to place claymore beneath jeeps and buggies. Crawl under one of the jeeps, and place a claymore in the general direction that most people come from. The next time that someone runs up to it they blow up. If they end up coming from another direction, it still blows up when they get in the jeep. The really nice part is that they spend the next 2-3 minutes trying to find you, but usually i just hang around to place the claymore.

I'm not a very accomplished sniper, but from what I have found out is do what the other guys said about finding spots. Don't choose spots that are high up or obvious, the other team looks there first. I cant count how many times another sniper has easily taken me out becuase they just look for the most convinient spot, and look at that, there I am.

On the whole bullet travel time and drop, is there any way that we can actually get a confirmation from EA or Dice, or are they way to busy to answer that?

hey guys, i reckon that there should be a little box every time you kill someone, which shows the distance, then we can have a comp. to see who can get the fartherest kill ! that would be sweet

now thats a good idea, it would also help with judging distance ingame as well.
